When questioned regarding his riding rounding the Home Turn and in the Home Straight, rider stated that after following the 6th placegetter, he elected not to attempt to shift to the outside of that runner making the Home Turn as his mount was not travelling well. He said after the 6th placegetter shifted out on straightening, he elected to improve to that runner’s inside as he had expected another runner to continue to maintain its position in the lead. He added near the 200M he was disappointed for clear running to the inside of that runner when that runner commenced to give ground quickly and shift in. He said as a result he improved to the outside of the that runner but then over the final 200M he could not fully test his mount to the finish when positioned behind the 6th placegetter - Race 459.

After the event, rider stated he was given the option of going forward and leading if his mount commenced well. He said when his mount jumped well he elected to continue forward and lead the event as instructed. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued to rider and stated that the horse had performed well when ridden in a forward position when it raced in Australia - Race 596.
