After the event, rider reported that the intention was to find cover on his mount, but when caught wide in the early stages his mount was allowed to stride forward and lead. He added that his mount raced too keenly in the lead and as a consequence gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight. Following the race was found that horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported - Race 298.
