Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards considered as to whether there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection against the eventual winner and the third placegetter. The Stewards found that when the horse improved into a run where there was doubtful room and the third placegetter and the eventual winner had shifted ground slightly, they declined to lodge a protest/objection and declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Approaching the 100M improved into a tight run between the eventual winner and the third placegetter. A short distance later, both runners shifted ground slightly, resulting in the horse then racing in restricted room between those two runners for some distance thereafter and being buffeted - Race 582.
7 K324  MOON ROCKET  13/04/2025   582  MOON ROCKET (K324) jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and lost ground. Hung out over the final 250M and near the 200M rider was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount - Race 582.
8 K244  SMART ENGINEER  06/04/2025   564  SMART ENGINEER (K244) on jumping was crowded. Leaving the 900M commenced to race keenly when being steadied. Near the 550M was again steadied and as a result lost ground - Race 564.

After the event, rider stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily during the early and middle stages but when asked for an effort near the 250M did not respond to his riding and gave ground. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 507.

Approaching the 150M was bumped. After the event, rider stated that his mount had a comfortable run during the race but failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and he could offer no excuse for the horse’s performance. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. The next day was reported to be lame in its left front leg. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 479.
