He said near the 250M he then pulled his whip through to his right hand after which his mount then hung in severely which restricted his ability to fully ride the horse out to the finish of the race as he was concerned it would shift in and interfere with runners positioned to his inside. He added that over the concluding stages when he was satisfied his mount was in a winning position he placed further pressure to his left rein to ensure that runners positioned to his inside had comfortable racing room and as a result was unable to ride his mount out to the finish. Trainer stated that he has endeavoured to improve the horse’s racing manners by placing a butterfly bit on the horse to prevent it from hanging in. He said, in his view, the horse’s racing manners will improve with further racing and by being stepped up in distance for its next race start. After considering the matter the Stewards placed a warning on the racing manners of the horse and advised trainer that the horse’s racing manners are placed on notice and should it race in a similar manner in future where it comprises its placing in the field the Stewards may take further action against the horse. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 643.
