YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) after the event rider stated that his intention was to lead but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to hold out a runner. He said throughout the event his mount raced "flat” before making a respiratory noise when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. Trainer stated that having regard to the manner in which the horse raced in the event he would now give the horse a freshen-up before its next race start. After the race was examined by the vet who said an endoscopic exam showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea was reported to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. Performance compared to its previous starts was considered to be disappointing. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 618. |

WATCH THIS ONE (K268) after the event rider reported that near the 600M his mount became unbalanced when racing close to the running rail. He added that again making the Home Turn his mount became unbalanced before giving ground under pressure in the Home Straight. Trainer confirmed that from an inside barrier he had instructed rider to take up a forward position, similar to the manner in which it barrier trialed on 20 May 2025 when it led and performed well. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 716. |
