1 NILOMETER (CD052) C W Wong CP/TT Broke with rest, allowed to stride forward in search of closer position, unable to slot in and trapped 3-wide without cover for most of race, always working to turn 1L down, challenged final 200 M and stuck neck out on line.
5 RED POWER (CD077) S Dye B/TT Away well, showed good early speed to cross from outside alley to lead them, controlled tempo in mid-race, rolled along 1L clear on turning, kicked strongly at 200 M and fought hard to just go down. Improved run.
2 SOUNDS BEST (CE255) B Prebble TT Began only fairly, allowed to drift back to worse than midfield, raced 3 back on rails 3-4Ls away throughout, bumped rail at 1200 M, had good run to turn, angled into clear at 250 M and chased hard but unable to get closer.
3 GREAT ACHIEVEMENT (CD250) F Coetzee TT Lost ground on jumping, unable to muster early speed, settled just of midfield 2-wide 4-5Ls away, angled wider on turn and swung 4-wide in straight, finished race off hard in centre of track to make frame.
10 SUPER WONGCHOY (CB318) Y T Cheng -- Jumped with line, allowed to take sit behind leader without working early, enjoyed run of race in mid-section, used nothing to turn, pushed along into straight, couldn't dash with them and only kept going same clip to line.
8 CLASSA WIN (CA115) H W Lai -- Average to jump, restrained from wide alley to assume spot at rear, lobbed along at tail 2-wide 7-8Ls away, not suited by slow speed and made 3 or 4-wide run passing Rock, finished off steadily but set too big a task.
9 SMACKO (CG132) C Munce -- Out with rest, showed good speed to be amongst leaders early, raced outside leader 1L away thereafter, had good trip to turn with slow speed, hard pressed on turning, didn't have the dash to match them last 200 M.
11 FIGHTING MASCOT (CB426) K L Chui -- Broke with rest, unable to match them early and allowed to drift back into midfield, raced 3-wide with cover 5Ls away, always working and made 4 to 5-wide run on turn, unable to make impression in straight and kept on at same pace.
6 FIRST AMONG EQUALS (CC327) A Delpech B Okay to begin, allowed to settle just off speed (steadied early), raced in 1 out 2 back spot 2Ls away in mid-section, enjoyed fair run to turn, gained 3-wide split in straight but was one-paced last 200 M and didn't close off.
12 GRAND CENTRAL (CG160) C K Tong SR Crowded early, settled at tail of field on rails 7-8Ls from front runners, not asked in middle stages, still had job to do turning for home, followed rails in straight, unable to find another gear and plodded to line.
7 SUNBELL (CB391) G Schofield CP Average to break, faded back from awkward draw, raced rear enough to last 2-wide 6Ls away, still well back on turn, made run between horses in straight but didn't finish off as normally would.
4 WEALTHY TREASURE (CC270) D Whyte -- First into stride, allowed to press forward early, slotted in to 1 out 1 back spot, raced 1-2Ls away in mid-section, eased 3-wide with run on turn, didn't responded to pressure in straight and gradually weakened out of it.
