PENZANCE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TRIUMPH.
In the early stages, ROCK THE TREE and SWEET BEAN were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
Passing the 1800 Metres, COME ON WONGCHOY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of CLEMENT LEGEND which shifted in marginally, resulting in COME ON WONGCHOY having to be checked away from the heels of CLEMENT LEGEND and losing ground.
Near the 750 Metres, TRIUMPH was awkwardly placed behind PROUD SKY.
K Teetan (CLEMENT LEGEND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of PEARL FURU, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 November 2018 and to expire on Monday, 3 December 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan’s good race riding record.
A veterinary inspection of SWEET BEAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CLEMENT LEGEND and PEARL FURU were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (164) PANASONIC HEAT-PUMP AIR CONDITIONER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

Apprentice H T Mo (OCEAN ROAR) was fined $2,000 for presenting himself to initially weigh out without a girth.
After being loaded into the barriers, JOY MASTER became fractious, reared abruptly and struck its head on the overhead structure. JOY MASTER was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, JOY MASTER was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, JOY MASTER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BINGO HERO was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between GRACIOUS RYDER which began awkwardly and shifted out and HONEST WAY which shifted in.
EVERBRAVE and BULLISH BROTHER bumped at the start. EVERBRAVE then became badly unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HARD PROMISE.
FULLY CHARGED and FIRE AND GOLD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Also from a wide barrier, TOUCH OF LUCK was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After being aggressively ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, HAPPY TOUR got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HARD PROMISE (U Rispoli) near the 1000 Metres which shifted in when not properly clear. Whilst the Stewards accepted that there were some circumstances with this incident and that HAPPY TOUR, which was travelling keenly, had exacerbated the incident, nonetheless U Rispoli was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, EVERBRAVE was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH BROTHER (M F Poon) which shifted in when not properly clear. M F Poon was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
When being steadied to obtain cover after the 1000 Metres, ALCAZAR got its head up and proved difficult to settle.
EVERBRAVE lay out making the turn after the 800 Metres and again rounding the Home Turn.
After initially being directed to shift to the outside of EVERBRAVE rounding the Home Turn, GLITTERING ARMOUR was then shifted to the inside of that horse shortly after entering the Straight to obtain clear running. Again passing the 300 Metres, GLITTERING ARMOUR had some difficulty obtaining clear running and was shifted to the outside of HONEST WAY to improve.
Passing the 400 Metres, GRACIOUS RYDER was bumped by EVERBRAVE which got its head on the side and shifted out away from HONEST WAY.
Approaching the 250 Metres, BULLISH BROTHER shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of OCEAN ROAR.
When questioned, Apprentice H T Mo (OCEAN ROAR) stated that he had to make some use of the horse after the 900 Metres to ensure that he cleared BULLISH BROTHER. He said passing the 800 Metres OCEAN ROAR was marginally in front of HARD PROMISE which was racing on the rail, however, this was necessary as he had to provide BULLISH BROTHER with sufficient clearance. He said after this OCEAN ROAR travelled keenly and because of this always maintained a slight margin over HARD PROMISE. Apprentice Mo was advised that whilst they accepted he had to ride OCEAN ROAR along to cross BULLISH BROTHER, nonetheless after shifting in to race outside HARD PROMISE, he should have made more of an effort to steady OCEAN ROAR so as to ensure that the race was not being run at too fast a tempo and that his mount could finish off the race as best as it was able.
When questioned, K Teetan stated that he was instructed to ride HAPPY TOUR positively in the early stages and to lead the race if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount aggressively for a considerable distance in the early stages in an endeavour to prevent HARD PROMISE from crossing HAPPY TOUR. He said despite riding the horse along for the initial 200 Metres of the race, HARD PROMISE clearly showed more speed than HAPPY TOUR and therefore he was unable to prevent that horse from crossing HAPPY TOUR approaching the 900 Metres. He said after being crossed by HARD PROMISE, HAPPY TOUR travelled keenly and he was required to check HAPPY TOUR away from the heels of HARD PROMISE near the 900 Metres. He added after this HAPPY TOUR travelled fairly, however, did not quicken noticeably in the early part of the Straight, rather the horse continued to work to the line without displaying any real sprint. He added, based on the manner in which HAPPY TOUR raced in the early stages, he suggested to connections that they may wish to consider stepping the horse up in distance in its future starts to allow it to be able to obtain the lead more comfortably.
A veterinary inspection of EVERBRAVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY TOUR, HONEST WAY and GLITTERING ARMOUR were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (165) PANASONIC 4K TV HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

STARTLING POWER shifted out at the start, resulting in SWOT WINDICATOR being hampered and taken out onto NICE KICK which was bumped.
Passing the 900 Metres, SWOT WINDICATOR and NICE KICK bumped, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, SWOT WINDICATOR commenced to race ungenerously and shifted out abruptly across the heels of NICE KICK, resulting in SWOT WINDICATOR being checked and losing ground. MASSIVE MILLENNIUM, which was racing to the outside of SWOT WINDICATOR, was inconvenienced as a result of that horse shifting out. After this, MASSIVE MILLENNIUM got its head on the side and lay out making the turn.
Close to the finishing line, ROYAL MOJITO was shifted out away from the heels of FLYING GODSPELL.
Throughout the race, NICE KICK travelled wide and without cover.
M Chadwick, the rider of 5th placegetter, GOLDEN EFFORT, pleaded guilty to a charge of having failed to ride his mount out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards [Rule 100(2)]. M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 2 December 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 6 December 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
A veterinary inspection of CAPTAIN BOSS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RIGHT CHOICE and FLYING GODSPELL were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (166) PANASONIC RF ULTRASONIC BEAUTY DEVICE HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

GOLDEN SUN was very fractious in the Parade Ring and prior to entering the track. After entering the track GOLDEN SUN refused to proceed to the Start and, when riderless, then got away from its handler and took some time to be recaptured. GOLDEN SUN was withdrawn from the race by order of the Stewards. Before being permitted to race again, GOLDEN SUN will be required to undergo a satisfactory parade test and also to proceed to the Start in a satisfactory manner prior to undergoing a barrier trial.

Making the turn near the 850 Metres, GRATWICK got its head on the side and lay out. GRATWICK continued to lay out and passing the 700 Metres was awkwardly placed inside CAO CAO. Then after the 700 Metres, GRATWICK became unbalanced of its own accord.
Passing the 500 Metres, ZERO HEDGE, when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GAMEPLAYER EMPEROR, became unbalanced after being bumped by SMART PATCH.
When questioned, M L Yeung stated that he was instructed to ride KASI FARASI, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, in a forward position behind the leaders if possible. He said for some distance in the early stages he rode his mount along in order to clear VICTORY MACHINE to his inside which was racing in a position one horse off the rail. He said whilst KASI FARASI showed fair early speed, VICTORY MACHINE was able to maintain its position inside KASI FARASI passing the 1000 Metres. He said after being ridden along to hold its position inside KASI FARASI, VICTORY MACHINE then travelled strongly inside his mount and he felt that he was only able to obtain about a half length margin over VICTORY MACHINE. He said based on the manner in which VICTORY MACHINE was travelling, he believed that he would have had to make too much use of KASI FARASI to improve his position sufficiently to be able to cross that horse and as he anticipated that VICTORY MACHINE would continue to be ridden along to maintain its position rather than allowing KASI FARASI to cross, then by using up KASI FARASI more to cross VICTORY MACHINE would not be in the best interests of his horse. He said he therefore elected to remain racing in a three wide position outside VICTORY MACHINE.
Throughout the race, COMPLACENCY travelled very wide and without cover.
After the race, C Schofield expressed concern regarding the action of TEAM SPIRIT. A veterinary inspection of TEAM SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, TEAM SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of SMART PATCH, Z Purton stated that, as instructed, he shifted SMART PATCH across behind runners in the early stages from barrier 11. He said SMART PATCH travelled only fairly during the race and then did not quicken when placed under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn. He said he continued to ride SMART PATCH along in the Straight, however, the horse failed to respond to his riding and then did not finish off the race. The performance of SMART PATCH, favourite for today’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SMART PATCH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SMART PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ENDEARING and COMPLACENCY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SMART PATCH, VICTORY MACHINE and MUSIC ADDITION were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (167) PANASONIC IH WARM JAR HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

Shortly after the start, CASHIN MINISTER and INTREPIC raced tight between CITY LEGEND and FORTUNATE RUNNER which shifted out.
WITNESS HUNTER and GOUTEN OF GARO bumped at the start.
SUPREME WITNESS shifted out at the start and hampered SHINING BRIGHT. This resulted in SUPREME WITNESS beginning only fairly. SUPREME WITNESS was then ridden along for some distance in the early stages to obtain a forward position.
From wide barriers, SMART ROCKET and MAHLER MOJO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being crossed by DESTIN passing the 1300 Metres, SMART ROCKET got its head up when racing keenly. SMART ROCKET continued to prove difficult to settle and near the 1100 Metres again got its head up when awkwardly placed behind DESTIN.
For some distance approaching the 600 Metres, CASHIN MINISTER was awkwardly placed behind SMART ROCKET.
Passing the 600 Metres, CASHIN MINISTER was momentarily awkwardly placed outside GOOD FOR YOU which lay out.
FORTUNATE RUNNER was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
RADIANT BUNNY had difficulty obtaining clear running from near the 300 Metres until passing the 200 Metres when improving into tight running between SUPREME WITNESS and DESTIN. Due to RADIANT BUNNY improving to its inside, DESTIN became momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of INTREPIC which shifted in marginally passing the 200 Metres. Then approaching the 100 Metres, RADIANT BUNNY was shifted out away from the heels of INTREPIC to continue improving.
Passing the 200 Metres, GOUTEN OF GARO was disappointed for running between SUPER FUN and SUPREME WITNESS. GOUTEN OF GARO was then awkwardly placed behind SUPER FUN passing the 150 Metres and near the 100 Metres, after being shifted to the inside of SUPER FUN, momentarily raced in restricted room inside that horse.
Throughout the race, INTREPIC travelled wide and without cover.
Also for the majority of the race, SMART ROCKET travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of CASHIN MINISTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WITNESS HUNTER and CITY LEGEND were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (168) SHUN HING GROUP 65TH ANNIVERSARY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1800 m

Also shortly after the start, YOUNG GLORY and KING’S MAN bumped.
From wide barriers, HAY RUN, KING’S MAN and SAVVY SEVEN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1500 Metres, HAY RUN got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRING IT ON. For some distance after this, HAY RUN continued to be awkwardly placed behind BRING IT ON and near 1400 Metres had to be checked away from the heels of that horse.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, YOU HAVE MY WORD was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG GLORY (S de Sousa) which shifted in when not properly clear. S de Sousa was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, MIDNITE PROMISE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
When questioned, S de Sousa (YOUNG GLORY) stated that he was instructed to position the horse in about midfield with cover from the wide barrier. He said after shifting in to obtain a midfield position after the 1400 Metres, YOUNG GLORY was then left racing wide and without cover near the 1300 Metres. He said as YOUNG GLORY had a light weight, he believed it would be in its best interests to allow the horse to continue forward to obtain a position closer to the rail rather than continue to race wide and without cover, therefore, after the 1200 Metres, he allowed YOUNG GLORY to improve its position and obtain the lead near the 800 Metres. He added YOUNG GLORY subsequently finished off the race only one-paced in the Straight.
YOU HAVE MY WORD and BRING IT ON were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (169) PANASONIC 100TH ANNIVERSARY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

SUPER GIANT began only fairly.
HANDSOME REBEL shifted out at the start and bumped MR PICASSO.
GO GO FIRST began awkwardly.

From the outside barrier, LAST KINGDOM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, HANDSOME REBEL got its head up when being steadied to obtain a position with cover. Then passing the 1000 Metres, HANDSOME REBEL again got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TAKING AIM after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.
Passing the 1100 Metres, SHAMPORT momentarily raced tight inside LAST KINGDOM.
After the 500 Metres, LADY FIRST and EVEREST raced tight as LADY FIRST shifted out to improve.
HOME RUN made the Home Turn awkwardly after being shifted out away from the heels of ZHAN JIANG ROCKS after the 500 Metres.
Approaching the 300 Metres, EVEREST shifted in abruptly, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount. After this, EVEREST continued to lay in under pressure.
Passing the 300 Metres, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was momentarily awkwardly placed behind SUPER GIANT. ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was then shifted to the inside of SUPER GIANT approaching the 200 Metres to obtain clear running.
Passing the 100 Metres, HANDSOME REBEL was awkwardly placed behind MR PICASSO which was giving ground. GO GO FIRST, which was racing inside HANDSOME REBEL, was also inconvenienced at this time.
When questioned, U Rispoli stated that, from barrier 3, he was asked to place MR PICASSO in a prominent position if the horse began well. He said in the early stages he was racing to the outside of HANDSOME REBEL which drew immediately to the inside of MR PICASSO. He said as that horse was not being ridden along, he felt that there was an opportunity to ride MR PICASSO forward and cross that horse, however, MR PICASSO did not show enough early speed to be able to cross HANDSOME REBEL and then was left racing three wide in the early stages. He said when TAKING AIM improved forward of MR PICASSO, he anticipated that that horse may continue to shift across to race on the rail, so he rode his mount along after the 1100 Metres to be able to obtain the position outside TAKING AIM if the opportunity presented itself. He added however that TAKING AIM remained racing one horse off the rail and therefore MR PICASSO was left racing in a three wide position without cover for the remainder of the race.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER GIANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPER GIANT, TAKING AIM and HIGH VOLATILITY were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (170) THE PANASONIC CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 1 1400 m

Passing the 250 Metres, JOLLY BANNER was shifted out away from the heels of CALIFORNIA WHIP (N Callan) which shifted in under pressure. N Callan was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.
When questioned, D Whyte stated that, despite riding SIMPLY BRILLIANT along for some distance in the early stages, the horse did not show early speed and consequently raced further back in the field than had been intended. He said then in the Straight SIMPLY BRILLIANT did not initially quicken as he expected and was finishing off the race only fairly. He said he had intended to improve inside WHAT ELSE BUT YOU to follow the eventual winner through passing the 250 Metres, however, SIMPLY BRILLIANT was not going well enough to be able to improve into this run and when WHAT ELSE BUT YOU shifted in passing the 200 Metres, he shifted SIMPLY BRILLIANT to the outside of that horse near the 150 Metres to obtain clear running. He added, based on the fact that SIMPLY BRILLIANT did not show early speed and the manner in which it finished off the race, he suggested to the connections that the horse may be better suited by stepping up in distance in its future starts.
A veterinary inspection of JOLLY BANNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LITTLE GIANT, RATTAN and CONTE were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (171) PANASONIC SYSTEM KITCHEN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

Race:10 (172) PANASONIC JUSTFIT THERMO VENTILATOR HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1600 m

As the start was effected, ARCADA became very fractious and then bounded in the air as the gates opened, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, ARCADA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
MAGNETISM shifted out and bumped KIRAM on jumping.
From wide barriers, RAZOR QUEST and STARSHIP were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being eased to obtain cover shortly after the start, THE JUDGE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of WARM THE VOICE which was taken in by CALLING THE SHOTS.
Passing the 1400 Metres, WARM THE VOICE was momentarily crowded for room inside CALLING THE SHOTS (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to WARM THE VOICE. Apprentice Mo was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear prior to shifting ground in future.
Approaching the 700 Metres, CALLING THE SHOTS got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ARCADA. HAPPY SEBRING, which was following, shifted out away from the heels of CALLING THE SHOTS in consequence, resulting in MARZOUQ and BIG BANG BONG being taken wider. Passing the 500 Metres, HAPPY SEBRING raced tight inside the heels of MARZOUQ.
Approaching the 300 Metres, WARM THE VOICE was steadied away from the heels of GREAT TREASURE which was taken out marginally by BIG BANG BONG.
MAGNETISM was held up for clear running over the final 300 Metres when unable to improve inside ARCADA which was giving ground. Approaching the 100 Metres, MAGNETISM was then shifted to the outside of ARCADA, however, over the concluding stages was again awkwardly placed inside the heels of CALLING THE SHOTS. Throughout the race, BIG BANG BONG travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, Apprentice C Wong stated that he was instructed to obtain a forward position on GO BEAUTY GO and lead the race if possible. He said however that he was also instructed if the riders of other runners were intent on leading, he should take a trailing position and shift away from the rail to ensure that GO BEAUTY GO had clear running in the Straight. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode GO BEAUTY GO along in the early stages and was able to obtain the lead passing the 1500 Metres. He said after the 1400 Metres CALLING THE SHOTS improved to be racing to the outside of GO BEAUTY GO and appeared to him to be travelling strongly. He said he maintained his position inside that horse after the 1300 Metres, however, he then became aware that ARCADA was improving its position from wider on the track. He added as he was aware that a sizeable margin had opened up behind GO BEAUTY GO, he elected to steady his mount to allow CALLING THE SHOTS to cross GO BEAUTY GO and shifted to the outside of that horse making the turn near the 900 Metres as instructed.
When questioned, A Badel stated that he was asked to lead on ARCADA if possible as the horse had performed well when taking up a forward position in races overseas prior to being imported into Hong Kong. He said after beginning badly he allowed ARCADA to improve its position along the Back Straight to take up the lead passing the 1200 Metres. He said he did not have to ride the horse along to do this, rather it was able to improve its position of its own accord. He said ARCADA travelled too keenly in the middle stages and consequently did not finish off the race. He added he suggested to connections that they may wish to consider removing the blinkers from ARCADA in its future starts having regard to the fact that it would not settle in today’s race. A veterinary inspection of ARCADA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY SEBRING, STARSHIP and KIRAM were sent for sampling.
