GOLDEN MISSION shifted in at the start and bumped GOODMANSHIP.
WHO LOVES THE ACE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
WHO’S HORSE shifted out and bumped AFTER ME a short distance after the start.
Despite being vigorously ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, FANTASTIC FABIO failed to muster speed and passing the 1000 Metres was steadied, however, throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC FABIO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After travelling a short distance, WHO’S HORSE lost ground when crowded for room between AFTER ME and ALLOY KING which shifted out. In this incident, WHO’S HORSE bumped the hindquarters of AFTER ME which became unbalanced.
SUNNY SMILE was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, GOLDEN MISSION raced tight outside AFTER ME which shifted out. TIGERLAD, which was following GOLDEN MISSION, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse when being shifted to the outside of GOLDEN MISSION to obtain clear running.
Passing the 50 Metres, WHO’S HORSE was steadied away from the heels of SHANGHAI POWER (M F Poon) which shifted in. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
After the race, H W Lai (AFTER ME) reported that after coming under heavy pressure passing the 600 Metres, AFTER ME did not quicken and then felt unbalanced in its action in the Straight when giving ground. A veterinary inspection of AFTER ME immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Before being allowed to race again, AFTER ME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ALLOY KING and DAY DAY RICH were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (105) ALL JOYFUL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1650 m

WEALTHY EMPLOYEE shifted in at the start and bumped MANY GAINS.
BOND A STAR shifted out at the start and bumped SPEED FORCE which was hampered and in turn shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUN SUN FA FA. After this, SPEED FORCE took some time to muster speed despite being vigorously ridden along.
SUPER KIN began only fairly and after being ridden along in the early stages in an endeavour to make up lost ground was awkwardly placed close to the heels of OFF THE REEL passing the 1600 Metres.
From the outside barrier, DIAMOND STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, SUPER KIN and WEALTHY EMPLOYEE raced tight.
Near the 1200 Metres, BOND A STAR was left racing wide and without cover and was then ridden along to obtain a more forward position, however, continued to race wide and without cover and subsequently finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of BOND A STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BOND A STAR was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BOND A STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, OFF THE REEL and GO BALLISTIC bumped.
Also making the turn after the 600 Metres, MANY GAINS brushed the running rail.
Approaching the 400 Metres, OFF THE REEL and GO BALLISTIC brushed as OFF THE REEL attempted to shift out away from the heels of SHANGHAI GRACE. When OFF THE REEL was unable to shift to the outside of SHANGHAI GRACE, this resulted in OFF THE REEL racing very close to the heels of that horse passing the 400 Metres.
After the 300 Metres, GO BALLISTIC was bumped by OFF THE REEL (C Y Ho) which improved into very tight running between that horse and HAPPY JAI JAI which shifted out marginally. Whilst the Stewards accepted that HAPPY JAI JAI had shifted some ground at the relevant time, nonetheless C Y Ho was reprimanded and told to ensure that when improving into tight running he does not make unnecessary contact with other runners.
After the 150 Metres, GO BALLISTIC was momentarily eased away from the heels of VIVA POPCORN (Z Purton) which shifted in under pressure. Z Purton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, SUN SUN FA FA travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of SUN SUN FA FA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUN SUN FA FA was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUN SUN FA FA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPER KIN, J Moreira stated that although SUPER KIN had cover throughout the race, his mount was required to travel in a three wide position throughout. He said when the pace of the race increased after the 600 Metres, SUPER KIN commenced to lay out and immediately came under pressure. He said SUPER KIN continued to lay out rounding the Home Turn and after the 200 Metres, when already well beaten, shifted out abruptly. He added he was not able to offer any explanation for the manner in which SUPER KIN lay out as the horse appeared sound in its action. A veterinary inspection of SUPER KIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUPER KIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER KIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
VIVA POPCORN and OFF THE REEL were sent for sampling.
<21/10/2021 Additional Veterinary Reports>BOND A STAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. BOND A STAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, BOND A STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

Race:3 (106) TIGER PRAWN HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1200 m

HAPPY TIME began awkwardly.
NEW FUTURE began only fairly and shifted out towards the heels of HAPPY GATHERING.
TRADER shifted out at the start and bumped AMIGOS GIGGLE.
VICTORIA GENERAL was slow to begin.
From the outside barrier, CORDYCEPS ONE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Near the 1050 Metres, HAPPY TIME was steadied when tightened for room between TRAVEL DATUK and AMAZING NEWS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from AMIGOS GIGGLE.
ARES travelled wide and without cover until passing the 700 Metres at which stage AMIGOS GIGGLE was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, TRAVEL DATUK was crowded for room inside AMAZING NEWS which got its head on the side and lay in away from AMIGOS GIGGLE despite the efforts of its rider.
TRAVEL DATUK was held up for clear running at the entrance to the Straight.
Passing the 200 Metres, EVER JOY got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if EVER JOY had been afforded a fair start. Evidence was taken from V Borges, the rider of EVER JOY, and Mr A Speechley, Starter. After taking evidence from both parties and after viewing the videos, it was established that prior to the start being effected, EVER JOY became fractious and turned its head to the left and into the adjoining stall occupied by ARES. As the Stewards believed that EVER JOY’s head was turned to the left and into the adjoining stall for a reasonable amount of time for the start to be delayed, they were of the opinion that EVER JOY had not been afforded a fair start and accordingly the horse was deemed to be a non-runner.
A veterinary inspection of NEW FUTURE and ARES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of AMAZING NEWS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that an endoscopic examination of VICTORIA GENERAL found that horse to be a "roarer”.
HAPPY GATHERING and TRADER were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (107) TIGER PRAWN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

DESTIN was slow to begin.
PRANCE DRAGON was crowded for room on jumping between TREASURE OF FIELD and SPLIT OF A SECOND which shifted out.
SIMPLE DOCTRINE began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, resulting in CHIKORITA being checked when crowded for room inside UNIVERSAL GO GO.
From a wide barrier, A A AGILITY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND shifted out marginally towards the heels of TREASURE OF FIELD, resulting in SPLIT OF A SECOND becoming unbalanced.
After the 900 Metres, SIMPLE DOCTRINE commenced to race ungenerously and shifted in across the heels of UNIVERSAL GO GO, resulting in DESTIN being inconvenienced approaching the 800 Metres.
A SMILE LIKE YOURS travelled wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres at which stage ROMANTIC WARRIOR was left racing wide and without cover.
CHIKORITA commenced to travel keenly and became unbalanced near the 700 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, PRANCE DRAGON was shifted out away from the heels of CHIKORITA to obtain clear running. Then near the 100 Metres, PRANCE DRAGON got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in its rider having to correct his mount.
After the race, A Badel reported that GREAT HARVEST coughed when exiting the track. GREAT HARVEST was noted to have coughed several times in the sampling stalls. An endoscopic examination of GREAT HARVEST showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT HARVEST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY GOOD GUYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GREAT HARVEST, ROMANTIC WARRIOR and A SMILE LIKE YOURS were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (108) FLYING ELITE HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1650 m

RED MAJESTY lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then was bumped by STAY CHILL which shifted out.
ALL JOYFUL shifted out on jumping and hampered ORIENTAL AMIGO which was then crowded for room inside HERE WE GO.
From wide barriers, SUN OF MAKFI, LOYAL BABY and BULLETPROOF were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
ALL JOYFUL was also steadied in the early stages after being bumped by HERE WE GO on jumping.
Near the 1300 Metres, SUN OF MAKFI was severely checked and stumbled when crowded for room inside ALL YOU KNOW which, when racing tight inside LOYAL BABY (C Schofield), got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. At this time, LOYAL BABY was racing tight outside the hindquarters of ALL JOYFUL which shifted out marginally when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART FOLKS. As the Stewards were of the opinion that LOYAL BABY had shifted in marginally when racing tight outside the hindquarters of ALL JOYFUL and that the incident had primarily been the result of ALL YOU KNOW wanting to shift in away from that horse, no further action was taken, however, C Schofield was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside wherever possible. After this, SUN OF MAKFI improved to again be racing inside ALL YOU KNOW which after the 1200 Metres again got its head on the side and lay in away from LOYAL BABY which was racing in a three wide position outside ALL JOYFUL.
Near the 1150 Metres, ORIENTAL AMIGO lost ground when crowded for room inside ALL JOYFUL which got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of SMART FOLKS before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to ORIENTAL AMIGO.
Passing the 900 Metres, ALL JOYFUL got its head up when awkwardly placed behind SMART FOLKS.
When questioned, H T Mo (HERE WE GO) stated that he was instructed to ride his mount positively in the early stages and lead if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount vigorously for a considerable distance in the early stages in order to cross runners to his inside. He said despite riding his mount along, HERE WE GO took some time to muster speed and it was not until near the 1100 Metres that he was able to cross MANNA FROM HEAVEN and to race outside RED MAJESTY. He said as he was of the opinion that HERE WE GO was not showing sufficient speed to cross RED MAJESTY, he steadied his mount immediately upon obtaining the position outside that horse and whilst HERE WE GO travelled keenly, he was able to steady his mount sufficiently to sit marginally behind RED MAJESTY. He added HERE WE GO continued to travel keenly until near the 800 Metres, however, approaching the 700 Metres came under pressure and after this gave ground noticeably.
Passing the 500 Metres, ORIENTAL AMIGO was momentarily eased away from the heels of SMART FOLKS which shifted to the inside of HERE WE GO as that horse gave ground.
SUN OF MAKFI was unable to avoid HERE WE GO as that horse continued to give ground and after the 400 Metres blundered after striking the heels of HERE WE GO after being severely checked to avoid that horse. After this, HERE WE GO finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of HERE WE GO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Given the manner in which HERE WE GO gave ground abruptly, the Stewards ruled that that horse must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination prior to being permitted to race again.
After the race, ALL JOYFUL became fractious in the winner’s stall and fell, resulting in its rider, C Y Ho, being dislodged. A veterinary examination of ALL JOYFUL after this incident did not reveal any significant findings. C Y Ho was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.
A veterinary inspection of SUN OF MAKFI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RED MAJESTY, ALL JOYFUL and LOYAL BABY were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (109) THE LONGINES CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 3 1000 m

FLYING HIGH began only fairly.
RESOLUTE shifted in at the start and bumped SERGEANT PEPPER.
Shortly after the start, TRIPLE TRIPLE was brushed by HARMONY N BLESSED which shifted in.
SOLID IMPACT was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, FLYING GENIUS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINE AND WINE.
Near the 950 Metres, WILD WEST WING was crowded for room between RESOLUTE which was racing tight outside the heels of SERGEANT PEPPER and HARMONY FIRE which shifted in.
J Moreira (BRILLIANT FORTUNE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of RESOLUTE, resulting in that horse being hampered and taken in onto FLYING HIGH which was also hampered when unnecessarily crowded for room. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 27 October 2021 and to expire on Monday, 1 November 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Moreira’s good race riding record.
After this, as J Moreira directed BRILLIANT FORTUNE out in an attempt to relieve the crowding to RESOLUTE and FLYING HIGH, BRILLIANT FORTUNE was shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of WINE AND WINE which was shifting in to take up the room which had been made available by BRILLIANT FORTUNE previously shifting in. When BRILLIANT FORTUNE bumped the hindquarters of WINE AND WINE, that horse became unbalanced and BRILLIANT FORTUNE shifted in abruptly away from the heels of WINE AND WINE, resulting in RESOLUTE being badly hampered and taken in across the rightful running of FLYING HIGH which was checked. When FLYING HIGH was checked, SOLID IMPACT, which was following, was hampered in consequence. As the Stewards were of the opinion that the subsequent interference caused primarily to FLYING HIGH and RESOLUTE was as a result of BRILLIANT FORTUNE shifting out and bumping WINE AND WINE and then becoming badly unbalanced, they took no further action in respect of this aspect of the incident.
Following this incident, BRILLIANT FORTUNE was left racing wide and without cover after the 700 Metres.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, SERGEANT PEPPER, which was travelling keenly, shifted out away from the heels of HARMONY FIRE and bumped the hindquarters of WINE AND WINE. After this, SERGEANT PEPPER continued to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed behind HARMONY FIRE.
Passing the 500 Metres, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING momentarily raced in restricted room inside RESOLUTE which was racing tight inside BRILLIANT FORTUNE. After this, CANTSTOPTHEFEELING lay out and for some distance approaching the 400 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of RESOLUTE.
Passing the 300 Metres, RESOLUTE raced tight inside WINE AND WINE which shifted in under pressure.
Passing the 150 Metres, SERGEANT PEPPER was shifted to the outside of HARMONY FIRE to obtain clear running.
After the 100 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and correct his mount.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HARMONY N BLESSED had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT FORTUNE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of CANTSTOPTHEFEELING and WILD WEST WING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HARMONY N BLESSED and HARMONY FIRE were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (110) TIGER PRAWN HANDICAP (Sec3) Class 4 1200 m

VAST STARLIGHT lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between GOOD SHOT which shifted out and PRINCE OF BON BON which was bumped and taken in by LUCKY ARCHANGEL which shifted in. In this incident, LUCKY ARCHANGEL became unbalanced after bumping PRINCE OF BON BON.
FLYING GIANT began only fairly and then shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of NOBLE DESIRE which became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in FLYING GIANT being crowded for room inside LUCKY MARYKNOLL.
After the 900 Metres, REGENCY STAR was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, STORMTROUPER was awkwardly placed behind GOOD SHOT which made the turn awkwardly, shifted out and bumped TOUCH FAITH, resulting in that horse being tightened for room inside REGENCY STAR.
Passing the 300 Metres, TOUCH FAITH was momentarily awkwardly placed when unable to improve inside WHISKEY NEAT due to STORMTROUPER improving its position inside TOUCH FAITH.
Passing the 250 Metres, GOOD SHOT raced tight inside STORMTROUPER which shifted to the inside of JOYFUL WIN to obtain clear running.
Close to the finishing line, TOUCH FAITH was awkwardly placed inside the heels of JOYFUL WIN.
REGENCY STAR lay in under pressure in the Straight.
After the race, K Teetan said that after riding his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position from an inside barrier, GOOD SHOT travelled too keenly in the middle stages which resulted in the horse being awkwardly placed behind WHISKEY NEAT. He said, in his opinion, GOOD SHOT’s failure to relax throughout the middle stages of tonight’s race explained the horse’s failure to finish off the race over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of GOOD SHOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of NOBLE DESIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STORMTROUPER and WHISKEY NEAT were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (111) SPEED VISION HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

C L Chau (SIMPLY FLUKE) was fined a sum of $2,000 for presenting himself to weigh out for this race in the incorrect colours.
SHINY ONE began only fairly.
WOOD ON FIRE and DECISIVE TWELVE bumped at the start.
SICOMORO and FAMILY FOLKS also bumped on jumping, resulting in FAMILY FOLKS becoming unbalanced.
From the outside barrier, SIMPLY FLUKE, which was leaning on the outside of its gate as the start was effected, was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
From a wide barrier, TELECOM ROCKET was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Near the 850 Metres, FAMILY FOLKS was awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND BRILLIANT.
Throughout the race, HURRY HURRY GAIN travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, A Hamelin (DECISIVE TWELVE) stated that in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position and he was able to improve inside DIAMOND BRILLIANT to obtain the lead passing the 1100 Metres. He said DECISIVE TWELVE commenced to travel keenly and would not relax as he had hoped when racing outside EVER FORCE. He said due to the manner in which DECISIVE TWELVE was travelling, he allowed the horse to improve forward of EVER FORCE and raced on the rail after the 800 Metres, however, DECISIVE TWELVE continued to travel keenly and because of this, in his opinion, the horse was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of DECISIVE TWELVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HURRY HURRY GAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that an endoscopic examination of EVER FORCE showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, EVER FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
EVER FORCE, DIAMOND BRILLIANT and FAMILY FOLKS were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (112) TELECOM FIGHTERS HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1650 m

MEANINGFUL STAR shifted out at the start and bumped HARMONY SPIRIT.
PARTERRE shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in FA FA being hampered and losing ground.
FARSHAD (M Chadwick) shifted out on jumping and bumped COMPASSION SPIRIT, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. After the race, M Chadwick stated that it was intended for FARSHAD to be ridden in a forward position, however, as a result of losing ground at the start, FARSHAD raced much further back in the field than had been intended.
From the outside barrier, NABOO STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SURREALISM was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MAJESTIC VICTORY.
Passing the 300 Metres, MAJESTIC VICTORY was shifted in away from the heels of PIANO SOLO to obtain clear running.
After the 100 Metres, TOTAL POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SURREALISM.
After the race, C Schofield expressed concern regarding the action of NABOO STAR. A veterinary inspection of NABOO STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, NABOO STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, M F Poon stated that he had to ride his mount along for some distance in the early stages to take up a forward position on PIANO SOLO as instructed. He said the tempo in the early and middle stages was quicker than was the case at its last start when successful for another rider. He said the fast pace, together with PIANO SOLO being up in grade tonight, in his opinion, accounted for the horse then not being able to finish off the race after coming under pressure prior to the Home Turn.
A veterinary inspection of SURREALISM and PIANO SOLO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FA FA and MEANINGFUL STAR were sent for sampling.
