Race:1 (693) KAT O HOI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1650 m

BEAUTY GLORY (Z Purton) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of WEALTHY DELIGHT. After this, BEAUTY GLORY was ridden along to obtain a forward position. After the race, Z Purton stated that BEAUTY GLORY travelled too keenly in the lead and because of this was not able to finish the race off strongly. He said having regard to the manner in which BEAUTY GLORY travelled tonight, he did suggest to connections that they consider dropping the horse back in distance at its future starts. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MOONLIGHT VISTA began awkwardly and then when being steadied to obtain cover shifted in on jumping and bumped DR WINNING.
A short distance after the start, GIFT OF LIFELINE was shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
BEAUTY GLORY, MY ECSTATIC and WORLD FAMOUS were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (694) YAN CHAU TONG HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1800 m

GREAT TIMES was withdrawn on 24.5.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ORIENTAL AMIGO (H T Mo). Before being allowed to race again, GREAT TIMES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
DIAMOND STAR was slow to begin.
WAH MAY LUCK, which was leaning on the outside of its stall as the start was effected, began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, A A AGILITY, SUCCESS ALLSTARS and SMART COUSIN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FOXHUNTER WAY and LOYAL AMBITION raced tight.
Passing the 550 Metres, DIAMOND STAR was awkwardly placed behind LOYAL AMBITION.
Approaching the 400 Metres, FOXHUNTER WAY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GRAND POWER which improved to the outside of INCREDIBLE. After this, INCREDIBLE gave ground and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of INCREDIBLE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. The performance of INCREDIBLE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, INCREDIBLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
At the 300 Metres, FOXHUNTER WAY got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of LOYAL AMBITION which also shifted out marginally.
Near the 75 Metres, PRIME STAR was directed in away from the heels of SMART COUSIN which shifted in under pressure.
Over the concluding stages, A A AGILITY was held up behind LOYAL AMBITION and ORIENTAL AMIGO which was giving ground.
When questioned regarding the performance of FOXHUNTER WAY, Z Purton stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden where it was comfortable tonight. He said in the early stages he anticipated that he would follow LOYAL AMBITION across to obtain a position closer to the rail, however, when LOYAL AMBITION was steadied to obtain a trailing position behind ORIENTAL AMIGO, this resulted in FOXHUNTER WAY being left racing wide and without cover after the 1300 Metres. He said although FOXHUNTER WAY was down in grade tonight, when carrying top weight and required to race wide and without cover, the horse was then not able to finish the race off over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of FOXHUNTER WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that it was anticipated that LOYAL AMBITION would be able to obtain a forward position behind the leaders. He said in the early stages ORIENTAL AMIGO was being aggressively ridden to obtain a forward position and as he believed that he would have had to ride LOYAL AMBITION along to clear that horse given the manner in which it was being ridden, he considered that it was in the best interests of LOYAL AMBITION to obtain a trailing position behind that horse which he anticipated may remain racing away from the rail outside OWNERS’ STAR. He said when ORIENTAL AMIGO continued to be ridden forward and was able to cross OWNERS’ STAR after the 1400 Metres and race on the rail, this resulted in GRAND POWER being able to clear LOYAL AMBITION and race in front of his mount which resulted in LOYAL AMBITION racing slightly further back in the field than had been anticipated. He added that nonetheless LOYAL AMBITION raced very disappointingly tonight in that the horse did not travel strongly at any stage and after coming under heavy pressure prior to the 400 Metres then did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of LOYAL AMBITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SUCCESS ALLSTARS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LOYAL AMBITION, GRAND POWER and WAH MAY LUCK were sent for sampling.
<26/5/2022 Additional Veterinary Reports>FOX HUNTERWAY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. FOX HUNTERWAY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, FOX HUNTERWAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:3 (695) CASTLE PEAK BAY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1650 m

When being steadied to obtain cover, FA FA got its head up on jumping and then was brushed by EVERYONE’S DELIGHT which shifted out.
A short distance after the start, FA FA was bumped by SAVAQUIN which shifted in after being bumped by TELECOM FIGHTERS which shifted in and then became unbalanced after making contact with SAVAQUIN.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, GORYTUS briefly raced in restricted room inside EVERYONE’S DELIGHT which got its head on the side and lay in.
In the Straight, GORYTUS lay out and near the 125 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TELECOM FIGHTERS.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SAVAQUIN, J Moreira stated that after obtaining a rearward position in the early stages, his mount commenced to lay out after entering the Back Straight. He said SAVAQUIN continued to lay out and would not maintain its position behind APACHE PASS. He said as he believed that APACHE PASS was not a horse that would likely take SAVAQUIN into the race, he elected to improve his position forward of that horse approaching the 600 Metres as SAVAQUIN continued to lay out. He added that making the turns SAVAQUIN continued to shift out from other runners and after giving him a limited response rounding the Home Turn was then disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of SAVAQUIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
EVERYONE’S DELIGHT and SOULMATE were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (696) PORT SHELTER HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1650 m

When being transported to the course, FARSHAD sustained a minor abrasion to the right hind leg. FARSHAD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that in his opinion it was suitable to race.
LOTUS FAVORITES began only fairly.
OUR CREED began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ANGELS HUNTER which became unbalanced.
NOBLE STEED and EVER LAUGH bumped on jumping. After this, NOBLE STEED was shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
From a wide barrier, ENCORE was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Then passing the winning post on the first occasion, ENCORE travelled keenly when being shifted behind ANGELS HUNTER.
K Teetan (JADE PHOENIX) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OUR CREED, resulting in that horse being taken in onto PERFECT TO GREAT which was hampered when unnecessarily crowded for room inside OUR CREED and which also resulted in PALACE PAL which was racing to the inside of PERFECT TO GREAT being crowded for room. K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 July 2022 and to expire on Monday, 11 July 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Teetan was fined $90,000.
Near the 1300 Metres, PERFECT TO GREAT was eased away from the heels of OUR CREED which was taken in by JADE PHOENIX. K Teetan was reprimanded.
Near the 1200 Metres, EVER LAUGH was left racing wide and without cover.
In the early part of the Straight, FARSHAD lay in under pressure.
After the 300 Metres, C L Chau (PALACE PAL) dropped his left rein.
Passing the winning post, FARSHAD was shifted in away from the heels of LOTUS FAVORITES which in turn was taken in by PERFECT TO GREAT which shifted in under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of JADE PHOENIX, EVER LAUGH and LOTUS FAVORITES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
OUR CREED, TOYCOON and PALACE PAL were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (697) RAMBLER CHANNEL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

CIGAR BUDDIES was withdrawn on 24.5.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPLIT OF A SECOND (K Teetan). Before being allowed to race again, CIGAR BUDDIES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CORDYCEPS ONE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then was crowded for room between HAPPY PROFIT and FORTUNE HERO which was taken out by REGENCY POET. In this incident, HAPPY PROFIT became unbalanced after being bumped by CORDYCEPS ONE.
SPLIT OF A SECOND began awkwardly and stumbled, resulting in the horse losing ground. SPLIT OF A SECOND was then shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From the outside barriers, DASSIT, JADE THEATRE and TELECOM MISSILE were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the first turn after the 1100 Metres, HAPPY PROFIT shifted out away from CORDYCEPS ONE, resulting in INESTIMABLE, SPLIT OF A SECOND and DASSIT all being inconvenienced.
Near the 1050 Metres, VIVA CHEF got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of FARM BUMPER. VIVA CHEF then made the turn passing the 1000 Metres wide before obtaining cover behind FARM BUMPER near the 750 Metres.
When being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind ARES approaching and passing the 900 Metres, FARM BUMPER proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. As a result of FARM BUMPER not being able to shift in behind ARES, FARM BUMPER was left racing wide and without cover throughout.
Near the 550 Metres, CORDYCEPS ONE momentarily raced in restricted room between FARM BUMPER and REGENCY POET which got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of ARES.
A veterinary inspection of TELECOM MISSILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CORDYCEPS ONE, REGENCY POET and ARES were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (698) PORT SHELTER HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1650 m

OUR CLASS ACT and AI ONE bumped at the start.
FEARLESS FIRE began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, BARON ZEE and REGENCY MASTER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, OUR CLASS ACT travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind SUPER HORNET.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, REGENCY MASTER lay in and bumped GO FOR TEA. GO FOR TEA then commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed behind BARON ZEE for some distance approaching and passing the 500 Metres. When awkwardly placed behind BARON ZEE, GO FOR TEA shifted out approaching the 400 Metres and raced tight inside REGENCY MASTER. GO FOR TEA then shifted in and brushed the running rail of its own accord rounding the Home Turn, resulting in GO FOR TEA becoming badly unbalanced.
Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER HORNET was shifted to the inside of FEARLESS FIRE to obtain clear running after being disappointed for running between that horse and RED BRICK FIGHTER. SUPER HORNET then lay in and passing the 200 Metres inconvenienced OUR CLASS ACT.
For the majority of the race, UNIVERSAL GO GO travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, K Teetan stated that from the outside barrier he was provided with two sets of instructions on how to ride GO FOR TEA tonight. He said it was explained to him that when use has been made of GO FOR TEA in the early stages in some of its races, the horse did not finish the race off. He said therefore he was told that if GO FOR TEA began well and he was able to take up a forward position without having to ride the horse along aggressively to do so, then he should allow GO FOR TEA to obtain a forward position. He said however that if the horse began only fairly, the connections of GO FOR TEA preferred for the horse to be ridden quietly to save it for a final run. He said at its most recent start the connections of GO FOR TEA were satisfied with the manner in which the horse finished the race off when ridden more conservatively and therefore it was stressed to him not to make too much use of the horse in the early stages. He said as GO FOR TEA did not jump on terms tonight, he made the decision to shift the horse across behind runners in accordance with his instructions. Mr F C Lor, the trainer of GO FOR TEA, confirmed the instructions provided to Jockey Teetan tonight. He also confirmed that he had been disappointed in the finishing efforts of GO FOR TEA when use had been made of the horse in the early stages to obtain a forward position and therefore from the outside barrier he was supportive of the decision Jockey Teetan made to ride the horse quietly tonight given the manner in which it began. A veterinary inspection of GO FOR TEA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of AI ONE, Z Purton stated that the horse, which was racing first up since 23 January this year, travelled too keenly in the early and middle stages. He said when the pace of the race increased passing the 500 Metres, AI ONE immediately came off the bridle and then became unbalanced on the Home Turn when unable to maintain its position between BARON ZEE and UNIVERSAL GO GO. He said as AI ONE was well beaten passing the 300 Metres and was commencing to give ground, he did not ride the horse out over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of AI ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AI ONE, favourite for tonight’s race and which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AI ONE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of KING DRAGON immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
AI ONE, RED BRICK FIGHTER and FEARLESS FIRE were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (699) MIRS BAY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

MIRACULOUS HONOUR, which was fractious in the float when being transported to the course, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse had sustained lacerations to the left hind and both front legs and accordingly was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, MIRACULOUS HONOUR was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, MIRACULOUS HONOUR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
The start was delayed when THETA HEDGE proved very difficult to load. Having regard to THETA HEDGE’s prior record in respect of being difficult to load, the Stewards ruled that that horse must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
JIANGXI STAMINA and STAR OF YUEN LONG bumped on jumping, JIANGXI STAMINA was then crowded for room between EXCELLENT PEERS and STAR OF YUEN LONG which shifted in when unbalanced.
FIRE BALL shifted out at the start and bumped DREAM CATCHER. FIRE BALL was then crowded for room between DREAM CATCHER and HARRIER JET which shifted out. After this, from wide barriers, FIRE BALL and DREAM CATCHER were steadied to obtain cover.
HANDSOME VEGGIE was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
When being vigorously ridden in the early stages to obtain a forward position, STAR OF YUEN LONG became unbalanced approaching the 1000 Metres.
Passing the 900 Metres, DREAM CATCHER became unbalanced of its own accord.
After the 250 Metres, EXUBERANT lay in under pressure.
Throughout the race, HARRIER JET travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that, in his opinion, JIANGXI STAMINA is a horse which finishes its races off best when able to maintain its momentum. He said after racing tight inside HANDSOME VEGGIE after the 600 Metres, JIANGXI STAMINA was awkwardly placed behind STAR OF YUEN LONG near the 400 Metres and shifted out and again raced tight inside HANDSOME VEGGIE. He said because JIANGXI STAMINA was not able to maintain its momentum at these critical stages of the race, the horse was then not able to finish the race off over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of JIANGXI STAMINA immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
EXCELLENT PEERS and EXUBERANT were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (700) MIRS BAY HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1200 m

HONG KONG WIN began only fairly and then was checked shortly after the start when crowded for room between TRIPLE TRIPLE and HARMONY N BLESSED which was taken out by EQUALETTA BLITZ which initially shifted out away from PARTY WARRIOR and then shifted out further after becoming unbalanced as a result of bumping HARMONY N BLESSED.
ADIOS shifted in at the start and bumped CALIFORNIA FOREST. ADIOS then shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of SPECIAL M.
Approaching the 600 Metres, ADIOS was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 300 Metres, SPECIAL M was awkwardly placed outside the heels of EQUALETTA BLITZ which shifted out.
After the 300 Metres, HONG KONG BET got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
