Race:1 (770) CHAI WAN ROAD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 5 1200 m

SUNNY BABY was withdrawn on 24.6.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TUNG HAYE HAYE (C Wong). Before being allowed to race again, SUNNY BABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
IRON KING was crowded for room on jumping between FORTUNE HAPPINESS and ALLOY KING which shifted out. FORTUNE HAPPINESS was then bumped by MOON PEAKS.
From wide barriers, CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO, MELBOURNE HALL and TUNG HAYE HAYE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After travelling a short distance, WITTY SCHOLAR and STAR OF RED bumped.
Near the 1150 Metres, ERNEST FEELING momentarily raced tight inside SUPER FLAMES which shifted in before being corrected abruptly to relieve the crowding.
Passing the 900 Metres, GOLDEN MISSION raced tight between MOON PEAKS and WHISKEY NEAT which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
Near the 300 Metres, ALLOY KING raced tight outside SUPER FLAMES which improved into tight running between that horse and WHISKEY NEAT which was giving ground. SUPER FLAMES and ALLOY KING again raced tight passing the 200 Metres.
Near the 175 Metres, CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO was shifted out away from MELBOURNE HALL which got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.
After the race, Z Purton reported that IRON KING’s action behind did not feel comfortable over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of IRON KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, IRON KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after the race, A Hamelin stated that it was intended for ALLOY KING to be ridden behind the speed today, however, when ERNEST FEELING and SUPER FLAMES maintained their positions inside ALLOY KING approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, he steadied ALLOY KING to obtain a position closer to the rail which resulted in the horse racing further back in the field than had been intended.
A veterinary inspection of MELBOURNE HALL and SALUTATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
IRON KING, GOLDEN MISSION and MOON PEAKS were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (771) HO SHEUNG HEUNG ROAD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

FORTUNE TURBO was very slow to begin. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE TURBO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
SOARING TOWER lost ground on jumping when crowded for room between GLORIFIED FIRE and UNTOLD RICHES which shifted in abruptly.
BRAVE DREAMS was crowded for room at the start between HEARTY WISH which got its head up and shifted out and BUNDLE OF CHARM which shifted in.
From wide barriers, YOUNG HORIZON and MANAGEMENT FOLKS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, SCIENCE PATCH was hampered when crowded for room inside CHARMING STEED (M Chadwick) which, after getting its head on the side and laying in away from GLORIFIED FIRE, was taken in by GLORIFIED FIRE which itself was racing tight inside UNTOLD RICHES (K H Chan). K H Chan was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for his fellow riders in similar circumstances. M Chadwick reported that in this incident his saddle shifted to the side which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. CHARMING STEED then continued to lay in for some distance in the middle stages.
Passing the 600 Metres, GLORIFIED FIRE raced tight inside HAPPY FOREVER.
Near the 300 Metres, BRAVE DREAMS and HEARTY WISH brushed.
Passing the 300 Metres, SOARING TOWER was awkwardly placed behind HAPPY FOREVER when commencing to improve into tight running between that horse and CHARMING STEED. Then passing the 200 Metres, SOARING TOWER was crowded for room between CHARMING STEED and HAPPY FOREVER which got its head on the side and lay out when commencing to give ground after racing wide and without cover throughout. A short distance after this, HAPPY FOREVER and SOARING TOWER both raced tight between CHARMING STEED and YOUNG HORIZON.
Near the 150 Metres, GLORIFIED FIRE was momentarily crowded for room inside UNTOLD RICHES which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the crowding.
After the 100 Metres, MANAGEMENT FOLKS was steadied when held up for clear running behind UNTOLD RICHES.
Near the 50 Metres, HEARTY WISH shifted in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHARMING STEED which also shifted out marginally.
In the Straight, CHARMING STEED raced with its head on the side and continued to lay in under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of UNTOLD RICHES immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, UNTOLD RICHES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY FOREVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BUNDLE OF CHARM and SCIENCE PATCH were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (772) TUEN MUN PUBLIC RIDING SCHOOL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1650 m

RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE began awkwardly and then was crowded for room on jumping between AHEAD A HEAD and ROYAL CAMPBELL which shifted out.
HANDSOME REBEL shifted out at the start and inconvenienced GOOD BEAUTY. After this, GOOD BEAUTY was shifted across behind runners.
Also from wide barriers, GOLD COMET and CROWN AVENUE were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Making the turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion, DECISIVE ACTION got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBODY KNOWS.
Near the 900 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE raced tight inside SUN OF MAKFI which got its head on the side and lay in away from AHEAD A HEAD. SUN OF MAKFI was then bumped by AHEAD A HEAD approaching the 800 Metres.
Approaching the 500 Metres, CHIRON was held up behind METHANE.
Passing the 450 Metres, DECISIVE ACTION became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by NOBODY KNOWS which lay out. Then passing the 150 Metres, DECISIVE ACTION got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
The performance of AHEAD A HEAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AHEAD A HEAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of AHEAD A HEAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GOLD COMET, CHIRON, GOOD BEAUTY and NOBODY KNOWS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BLOTTING PAPER and SUN OF MAKFI were sent for sampling.
<27/6/2022 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that BLOTTING PAPER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, BLOTTING PAPER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
The Veterinary Officer reported that SMART PATCH had sustained a right front tendon re-injury on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SMART PATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Race:4 (773) POK FU LAM PUBLIC RIDING SCHOOL HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1400 m

NUNCHUKS shifted in at the start, resulting in KING OF THE COURT and OSCAR GLORY being taken in onto PERFETTO which was bumped on the hindquarters by WOODFIRE BRO which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. This resulted in WOODFIRE BRO racing back in the field today.
VOYAGE STAR began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, LIFELINE VISION and EZRA were shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.
After travelling a short distance, KASI FARASI was crowded for room between MARADO which shifted in before being directed back out and TYCOON JEWELLERY which was taken out by VOYAGE STAR.
B Shinn (NUNCHUKS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OSCAR GLORY, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily hampered when having to be steadied away from the heels of NUNCHUKS from near the 1100 Metres until after the 1000 Metres and also causing MARADO to be inconvenienced passing the 1100 Metres. B Shinn was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 10 July 2022 and to expire on Sunday, 17 July 2022 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Shinn was fined $50,000.
Approaching the 900 Metres, STAR OF YUEN LONG, which travelled wide and without cover throughout the race, was bumped by VOYAGE STAR as that horse shifted out away from the heels of ROYAL AGILITY after being crossed by that horse.
RAINBOW LIGHT (R Maia) was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres attempted to improve into very tight running between ROYAL AGILITY and VOYAGE STAR. When attempting to improve, RAINBOW LIGHT bumped the hindquarters of VOYAGE STAR which became unbalanced when also racing tight inside NUNCHUKS. ROYAL AGILITY was also bumped on the hindquarters by RAINBOW LIGHT. Then near the 250 Metres, RAINBOW LIGHT was checked when unable to improve between ROYAL AGILITY and VOYAGE STAR. R Maia was reprimanded and advised to exercise care when attempting to obtain clear running in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 250 Metres, WOODFIRE BRO momentarily raced tight between TYCOON JEWELLERY and STAR OF YUEN LONG which shifted out when giving ground.
A veterinary inspection of VOYAGE STAR immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
RAINBOW LIGHT, NUNCHUKS and TYCOON JEWELLERY were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (774) LEI YUE MUN PUBLIC RIDING SCHOOL HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1800 m

CORDYCEPS TWO began awkwardly and then travelled keenly for some distance in the early stages.
BORN THE SAME DAY and RIGHT AS RAIN bumped on jumping.
LUCKY MISSILE shifted in at the start and bumped PAKISTAN FRIEND.
From wide barriers, SMILING TIME and CHATER PINS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1200 Metres, SMILING TIME became unbalanced and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RIGHT AS RAIN after being bumped by SUPER HONG KONG which improved to be racing outside the heels of BORN THE SAME DAY.
After the 1100 Metres, RED ELYSEES was left racing wide and without cover.
CHATER PINS had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight. CHATER PINS was then shifted to the inside of BORN THE SAME DAY passing the 300 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of CHEERY, RIGHT AS RAIN, JOYFUL HEART and VUKAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RIGHT AS RAIN, CORDYCEPS TWO and SUPER HONG KONG were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (775) THE HONG KONG RIDING FOR THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

CONCERTO got its head up on jumping, shifted out and bumped GALLANT HERO. After this, CONCERTO again got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover.
INDIGENOUS REALM began only fairly and then after travelling a short distance was awkwardly placed outside the heels of STAR CONTACT.
SUPER HIGHWAY shifted out shortly after the start and bumped the hindquarters of HAPPY DAILY.
From wide barriers, GALLANT HERO and GET THE MONIES were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1100 Metres, STAR CONTACT momentarily raced in restricted room inside PROTOSS SPIRIT.
Approaching the 900 Metres, CONCERTO commenced to over-race and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of INDIGENOUS REALM.
After the 900 Metres, GANG OF BROTHERS was left racing wide and without cover.
PROTOSS SPIRIT, which was having its first race start today, got its head on the side and made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly. PROTOSS SPIRIT was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of CONCERTO passing the 700 Metres.
HAPPY DAILY was held up for clear running from on straightening until passing the 200 Metres.
Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, as STAR CONTACT was attempting to improve to the outside of FIERY DIAMOND, STAR CONTACT was awkwardly placed behind that horse as FIERY DIAMOND shifted out under pressure. When STAR CONTACT was shifted out away from the heels of FIERY DIAMOND, GANG OF BROTHERS was inconvenienced.
INDIGENOUS REALM was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 300 Metres.
Passing the 300 Metres, GALLANT HERO was shifted to the inside of GOOD NEWS to continue improving. GALLANT HERO was then held up for clear running from passing the 200 Metres until approaching the 100 Metres at which time the horse was directed to the outside of GOOD NEWS to obtain clear running.
K C Leung (INDIGENOUS REALM) was warned against the practice of using the whip down the horse’s shoulder.
After the race, A Badel was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of PROSECCO. He said although the horse was required to race in a three wide position, PROSECCO had cover throughout the race behind GANG OF BROTHERS. He said after being shifted to the outside of that horse rounding the Home Turn, PROSECCO lay out under pressure in the Straight and did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of PROSECCO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, H Bentley stated that it was intended for FIERY DIAMOND to be ridden in a forward position today but with cover. He said due to the circumstances of the race in the early stages he was unable to shift across to trail another runner and because of this he had to allow FIERY DIAMOND to improve after the 1000 Metres to race outside the lead. He said after having to race without cover throughout the race, FIERY DIAMOND came under pressure in the early part of the Straight and then did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of FIERY DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GANG OF BROTHERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY DAILY, INDIGENOUS REALM and GOOD NEWS were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (776) LEI YUE MUN PARK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 2000 m

TOTAL POWER was withdrawn on 24.6.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, TOTAL POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
NATURAL STORM began only fairly.
COPARTNER ELITES lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and then became unbalanced as a result of being bumped by ENTRUSTED which shifted in.
CLASSIC ARCHI shifted in at the start and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENZEMBLE. After this, CLASSIC ARCHI was steadied to obtain cover.
After the 1800 Metres, ENZEMBLE was momentarily eased away from the heels of PEGASUS GENERAL (H Bentley) which shifted in when not fully clear. H Bentley was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Near the 1400 Metres, INTREPID WINNER was taken wide and without cover by COPARTNER ELITES which shifted to the outside of SUPERBELLA. After this, INTREPID WINNER was steadied to obtain cover behind COPARTNER ELITES.
ROBOT WARRIOR was badly held up for clear running from approaching the 300 Metres until near the 100 Metres at which time the horse was shifted to the outside of ODE TO JOY to obtain clear running. ROBOT WARRIOR then shifted out and bumped PEGASUS GENERAL near the 75 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, ENTRUSTED and KING’S CAPITAL bumped as ENTRUSTED was shifted to the outside of ENZEMBLE. ENTRUSTED then raced in restricted room between KING’S CAPITAL and ENZEMBLE for a short distance.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that at no stage of today’s race did NATURAL STORM travel well and after being placed under heavy pressure prior to the Home Turn did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of NATURAL STORM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC ARCHI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPERBELLA and COPARTNER ELITES were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (777) LUNG MUN ROAD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1650 m

ROMANTIC COMBO was withdrawn on 23.6.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, ROMANTIC COMBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
AMAZING TEENS and FLYING DRAGON bumped at the start.
SO WE JOY shifted out on jumping and bumped HANDSOME TWELVE.
RED DESERT began awkwardly and shifted out, inconveniencing ULTRA EXPRESS. After this, ULTRA EXPRESS was shifted across behind runners.
Also from wide barriers, DECRYPT and HELENE WISDOM STAR were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
VILLA FIONN lost its right front plate in the early stages.
Near the 1300 Metres, CHANCHENG PRINCE was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, HELENE WISDOM STAR was left racing wide and without cover.
HANDSOME TWELVE was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of HELENE WISDOM STAR approaching and passing the 300 Metres. After this, HANDSOME TWELVE continued to lay in and proved difficult to ride.
Over the concluding stages, CHANCHENG PRINCE and APACHE PASS raced tight.
When questioned, A Hamelin stated that he was instructed to shift RED DESERT across behind runners from a wide barrier and obtain a position with cover if possible. He said when commencing to shift RED DESERT in passing the winning post on the first occasion, his mount commenced to race ungenerously and hung out. He said RED DESERT continued to hang out for a considerable distance and he had to place heavy pressure on the right rein in order to prevent RED DESERT from shifting towards the outside. He said it was not until after the 1000 Metres that RED DESERT commenced to race more tractably. He said because of RED DESERT’s racing manners in the early stages, the horse was then not able to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of RED DESERT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of RED DESERT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RED DESERT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of HELENE WISDOM STAR and FLYING DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING TEENS, SO WE JOY and APACHE PASS were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (778) POK FU LAM COUNTRY PARK HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1400 m

BUZZINGA was crowded for room on jumping between NAVAS TWO which shifted in marginally after beginning only fairly and MASTER DELIGHT which shifted out. In this incident, NAVAS TWO became unbalanced as a result of being bumped by BUZZINGA.
FANTASTIC TREASURE and BEAUTY LIVE bumped on jumping. FANTASTIC TREASURE was then steadied to obtain cover.
From a wide barrier, TORONADO PHANTOM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
BEAUTY FIT was held up for clear running from on straightening until approaching the 250 Metres. When being shifted to the outside of BEAUTY LIVE to obtain clear running, BEAUTY FIT raced tight inside MASTER DELIGHT.
Near the 50 Metres, BEAUTY LIVE raced tight inside BEAUTY FIT which shifted in away from THE GOLDEN SCENERY.
Over the concluding stages, TORONADO PHANTOM raced in restricted room between BUZZINGA and WINNER METHOD.
Throughout the race, GOOD LUCK FRIEND travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the performance of BUZZINGA, K Teetan stated that after being crowded for room at the start, he was able to obtain a good position without having to make too much use of the horse. He said after improving to race behind WINNER METHOD in the early stages, he had to ride BUZZINGA along passing the 1000 Metres as BUZZINGA was reluctant to maintain its position inside GOOD LUCK FRIEND. He said after this BUZZINGA travelled only fairly and after being shifted out into clear running shortly after entering the Straight did not quicken as it has for him in the past. He added that BUZZINGA stayed on satisfactorily until after the 200 Metres, however, gave ground over the latter stages and, in his opinion, was disappointing in today’s race. A veterinary inspection of BUZZINGA immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”.
BUZZINGA, THE GOLDEN SCENERY and BEAUTY FIT were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (779) POK FU LAM RESERVOIR ROAD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

MALDIVES was crowded for room on jumping between TEMPEST EXPRESS and RUNNING AHEAD which shifted out.
FAULDS shifted out at the start and bumped READY TO WIN which was then crowded for room inside IGNITING.
COMING PATCH shifted out on jumping and brushed the hindquarters of COMMANDING MISSILE. After this, COMING PATCH and COMMANDING MISSILE were steadied to obtain cover.
RED TITAN shifted in at the start and bumped VOYAGE BUBBLE.
Passing the 1300 Metres, READY TO WIN was steadied away from the heels of FAULDS due to both horses shifting ground. Then after the 700 Metres, READY TO WIN commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of FAULDS after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.
Approaching the 50 Metres, RED TITAN shifted out and brushed FAULDS which then shifted out away from RED TITAN, causing READY TO WIN to be inconvenienced.
After the race, Z Purton stated that after shifting his mount to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight, READY TO WIN struggled to make up ground and over the concluding stages finished the race off only fairly. A veterinary inspection of READY TO WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of EIGHT TRIGRAMS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
READY TO WIN, VOYAGE BUBBLE and MALDIVES were sent for sampling.
