Trainer M Newnham stated that the only explanation he could offer was that MISSION BRAVO may have been better suited by being placed under pressure sooner than it was in the event as it is somewhat one-paced and does not appreciate racing amongst other horses. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to hold a position to the inside of YOUTHFUL DEAL, J McDonald stated that his instructions were to endeavour to obtain a forward position, but without having to make use of his mount to do so. He said after MAJESTIC STAR jumped only fairly, he initially was positioned to the inside of YOUTHFUL DEAL, but when the pace of the event was run inside of standard, he was unable to maintain his position inside YOUTHFUL DEAL and did not believe it was in the best interests of MAJESTIC STAR to make use of his mount to do so having regard to his instructions.
1 6 PING HAI GALAXY (C377) A Badel Bumped at the start. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 7 YOUTHFUL DEAL (G340) C Y Ho After the race, C Y Ho stated that his preference was to endeavour to shift to the outside in the Home Straight, but as a run developed between XPONENTIAL and CAMPIONE, he elected to improve between those runners on straightening. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

6 2 FIERY DIAMOND (G022) C L Chau (-2) Near the 1400 Metres, after improving to the inside of VIVA HUNTER (K C Leung), was steadied when crowded by that runner. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care. After the race, C L Chau stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to obtain a position with cover in the early stages. He added that whilst his mount was able to obtain a position three wide and with cover behind VIVA HUNTER in the middle stages, it raced keenly and then was one-paced to the finish of the event. Trainer T P Yung confirmed the instructions and said such instructions were issued as, in his opinion, it was a disadvantage to hold the lead today. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
5 3 PERFECT TEAM (H120) E C W Wong (-10) Slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

10 7 VIVA HUNTER (E369) K C Leung When questioned regarding his riding in the early and middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to improve forward with the slow pace of the event, K C Leung stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position and was given the option of leading if available to him. He said whilst he was aware that the pace of the event in the early stages was slow, when his mount was travelling comfortably and with LOVERO positioned to his inside travelling well, he was reluctant to go forward and attempt to cross that runner as he felt LOVERO would have held its position and this would have resulted in VIVA HUNTER being disadvantaged. He added as a result he remained racing wide and without cover where his mount travelled comfortably. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

5 5 IMPERIAL MAGEE (E460) A Badel Apprentice E C W Wong (RIVER VIEWS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that inside the final 50 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of IMPERIAL MAGEE, resulting in IMPERIAL MAGEE being checked away from the heels of RIVER VIEWS. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 10 December 2023 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
7 6 MEEPMEEP (H234) Z Purton Jumped only fairly. When questioned, Z Purton stated that at its first race start MEEPMEEP raced greenly and lay out in the Home Straight after making an inside run. He said today from the 600 Metres his mount hung in and on the Home Turn proved reluctant to shift to the outside of CHILLI BABA. He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight MEEPMEEP continued to hang in which restricted his ability to fully test his mount, particularly when it was racing on the wrong lead leg. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of MEEPMEEP were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MEEPMEEP will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. 10 3 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) K De Melo Crowded on jumping. After the race, K De Melo stated that after obtaining a midfield positon, NEVER TOO SOON initially responded well to his riding, but over the concluding stages finished the race off in a one-paced manner although he was not too disappointed with the performance of the horse. 4 4 BLUE MARLIN (H078) J McDonald Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 5 MASSIVE ACTION (E445) L Hewitson When questioned regarding his mount not leading, L Hewitson stated that his intention was to lead the event from an inside barrier. He said after riding his mount along in the early stages and obtaining the lead, when GOLDEN DARCI improved to his outside and was travelling strongly, he elected to allow that runner to cross as he felt the pace of the event was being run inside of standard. He said after being crossed by GOLDEN DARCI, the pace of the event eased slightly which then disadvantaged MASSIVE ACTION in the Home Straight as it took some time to respond to his riding once he obtained clear running. After considering the early sectional times of the event, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Hewitson were reasonable in the circumstances. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
