1 1 PATCH OF COSMO (J357) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly. Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between NORTHERN FIRE BALL and ETALON OR. In this incident, PATCH OF COSMO shifted out and made contact with ETALON OR on a number of occasions. Sent for sampling post-race.
11 2 SANTORINI (J076) H Bowman After the event, H Bowman stated that his mount was able to lead the event without being pressured and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight. He said he could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 3 RUN YES RUN (J264) M Chadwick After the event, M Chadwick stated that he had anticipated CIRCUIT JOLLY continuing forward to cross SANTORINI which would allow his mount to obtain a position one-off. He said when CIRCUIT JOLLY remained racing to the outside of SANTORINI, RUN YES RUN was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and this was the reason for its failure to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
13 4 BABY SATELLITE (J262) A Hamelin Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between SMILING EMPEROR and CIRCUIT JOLLY which shifted out. Leaving the 800 Metres when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of PATCH OF COSMO was steadied when racing tight to the inside of that runner.
3 5 CIRCUIT JOLLY (J506) Z Purton Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Near the 170 Metres jumped a mark on the track.
5 6 ETALON OR (J273) A Badel Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and as a result became unbalanced. On a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was bumped by PATCH OF COSMO. Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration if there were grounds for a protest/objection against PATCH OF COSMO being declared the winner on behalf of the connections of ETALON OR due to contact being made on a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres. As the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds due to both runners shifting ground and when connections did not lodge a protest/objection, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
2 7 JUNEAU PRIDE (J443) B Avdulla On jumping was bumped heavily by ETALON OR which shifted in, resulting in JUNEAU PRIDE becoming unbalanced. Sent for sampling post-race.
4 8 KA YING ATTACK (J391) M F Poon (-2) For a short distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in and was held up behind SANTORINI.
6 9 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) Y L Chung (-3) Fractious in the gates after being loaded. Was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, NORTHERN FIRE BALL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and a warning was placed on its barrier manners. Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
7 10 TOP TIME (K006) K De Melo In the early part of the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.
8 11 CASHISCASH (J369) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When being shifted across behind runners in the early stages commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid PATCH OF COSMO which shifted out slightly.

4 8 SUPER INFINITY (J320) L Hewitson When questioned regarding his riding, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages and anticipated taking up a position behind midfield. He said SUPER INFINITY was slow to begin and as a consequence settled further back than intended. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the inside of CAPTAIN WIN sooner than he did, L Hewitson stated that his plan was to follow CAPTAIN WIN during the event as he felt the horse had previously shown the ability to improve into the event on the Home Turn. He said after the 600 Metres he remained racing behind CAPTAIN WIN, anticipating that runner would improve into the event, however, when it did not do so, he then shifted to its inside near the 500 Metres to commence to improve. He added after improving to the inside of CAPTAIN WIN and commencing to make ground, he then shifted SUPER INFINITY out to obtain clear running after the 350 Metres where it commenced to run on well. He further stated that after racing in restricted room between CAPTAIN WIN and ENTERPRISE ATTACK approaching the 300 Metres, SUPER INFINITY finished the race off well. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions were to ride SUPER INFINITY patiently, however, did not anticipate the horse settling at the rear of the field. Whilst the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Hewitson were reasonable in the circumstances, they agreed with his assessment that he, in the circumstances, should have shifted to the inside of CAPTAIN WIN sooner than what he did to allow SUPER INFINITY to commence to improve into the race. Sent for sampling post-race.

12 7 CALL ME GLORIOUS (H410) L Hewitson After the event, L Hewitson could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CALL ME GLORIOUS was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, CALL ME GLORIOUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
3 8 GORGEOUS WIN (J008) M F Poon (-2) No report.
10 9 WONDER KIT (G455) M L Yeung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
7 10 SEASONS WIT (H223) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and then was crowded shortly after the start by SUPERB CAPITALIST which shifted in slightly.
4 11 SING DRAGON (J141) L Ferraris Approaching the 350 Metres shifted in and away from SUPERB CAPITALIST and became awkwardly placed behind BUNDLE OF CHARM, resulting in SING DRAGON being held up until near the 300 Metres.
2 12 BOTTOMUPTOGETHER (J316) M Chadwick When questioned, M Chadwick stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but was not given any specific instructions to lead. He said after his mount commenced well, he was obliged to make use of it in the early stages to cross runners to his inside. He said passing the 1000 Metres he was obliged to continue forward to cross CALL ME GLORIOUS which resulted in him being slightly in advance of WUNDERBAR. He said when Z Purton, the rider of WUNDERBAR, was positioned away from the rail and he was riding his mount with restraint, he elected to allow BOTTOMUPTOGETHER to continue to stride forward and cross to the lead. He added although he was aware that this resulted in the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time, he felt, given the circumstances of the race, this was the best option for BOTTOMUPTOGETHER to obtain the best possible placing in the field as if he was to restrain his mount and race outside WUNDERBAR, this would have resulted in his mount racing keenly. After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Chadwick were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 13 WONDERSTAR (J531) K Teetan No report.
11 14 VICTORY MOMENTS (H142) H Bentley Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Jumped a mark on the track near the 170 Metres.
WV WATCH BUDDY (H185) H Bentley Withdrawn on 12.10.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (heart abnormality) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter VICTORY MOMENTS. Before being allowed to race again, WATCH BUDDY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <17/10/2024 13 October 2024 Sha Tin Racemeeting – Race 10 (102)> Confirmed on specialist advice to be displaying an irregular heart rhythm after the pre-race veterinary inspection.
