Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned to the inside of GANGNAM STAR which shifted in. 14 5 AROMATICA (H437) H Bentley After the event, H Bentley reported that although his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event, it was still disappointing in that it gave ground noticeably in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AROMATICA was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, AROMATICA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
9 6 LINK (J177) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly and then from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For some distance near the 300 Metres was shifted to the inside to secure clear running.
2 7 FLYING PHANTOM (J086) J McDonald On jumping was crowded by SUPER CHARIZZARD which jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 8 MULTIDARLING (H148) C L Chau (-2) Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between MARIO which was taken out by REGENCY HAPPY STAR and SUPER CHARIZZARD which shifted in and away from HARRY’S HERO.
11 9 HIGH RISE POWER (H353) C Y Ho HIGH RISE POWER, which was fractious in the starting gates, jumped only fairly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 600 Metres was bumped and taken wider by THE KHAN which shifted out to improve. Noted to have blood in both nostrils after the race. A subsequent endoscopic examination conducted on HIGH RISE POWER confirmed the horse to be a bleeder. Before being allowed to race again, HIGH RISE POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

5 14 REGENCY HAPPY STAR (H248) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was bumped by MARIO which shifted in. When questioned, A Atzeni stated that after being held up between TSUEN WAN GLORY and YODA’S CHOICE in the early part of the Home Straight, near the 300 Metres he commenced to improve to the outside of YODA’S CHOICE when he felt that runner was maintaining a straight course. He said after commencing to shift to the outside of YODA’S CHOICE, that runner then shifted out which resulted in REGENCY HAPPY STAR not being able to obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres.

4 2 ELEGANT LIFE (J366) H Bowman After travelling a short distance made contact with SKY SONG when racing tight to the inside of COLOURFUL WINNER. ELEGANT LIFE was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From the 450 Metres until the 350 Metres was held up for clear running when being shifted to the outside of CURRAHEE. Near the 350 Metres made contact with TACTICAL COMMAND as it obtained a narrow run between CURRAHEE and TACTICAL COMMAND.
7 3 COLOURFUL WINNER (J312) M L Yeung When giving ground near the 150 Metres was steadied when crowded between KING OBERON and NEWBORN MIRACLE (C L Chau) which shifted out when not quite clear. C L Chau was advised to exercise more care. After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount travelled satisfactorily outside the lead in the early stages. He added near the 400 Metres when VANTASTIC CHOICE improved to his outside, his mount was reluctant to race inside that runner and as a result changed stride and became unbalanced. He said from this point COLOURFUL WINNER did not finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 DH 4 COSMIC SPURS (J380) K Teetan Crowded shortly after the start. For some distance after the 200 Metres raced tight between CURRAHEE and ORIENTAL SURPRISE which shifted out.

5 6 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) B Thompson Jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after the start between SKY SONG and TRIUMPHANT MORE which shifted out slightly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Between the 350 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
6 7 HE WAS YOU (J547) B Avdulla Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between COSMIC SPURS which was taken in by CURRAHEE which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and KING OBERON which was taken out by VANTASTIC CHOICE which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. When under pressure in the Home Straight lay in and raced greenly and passing the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind VANTASTIC CHOICE.
9 8 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Badel Near the 350 Metres was bumped and taken wider by ELEGANT LIFE. After the event, A Badel reported that whilst his mount was obliged to race wide, it had cover throughout the early and middle stages. He said in the Home Straight TACTICAL COMMAND responded only fairly to his riding. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 9 SKY SONG (J159) K De Melo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, K De Melo reported that his mount made a respiratory noise on pulling up. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
3 10 KING OBERON (H407) L Hewitson Crowded shortly after the start. Bumped after the 500 Metres. After the event, L Hewitson reported that with the pace of the race being run outside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages his mount raced keenly after the 800 Metres and was steadied to avoid NEWBORN MIRACLE.
8 11 VANTASTIC CHOICE (G401) A Pouchin Shifted out shortly after the start, was bumped and became unbalanced. Near the 500 Metres was bumped by KING OBERON which shifted to the outside of COLOURFUL WINNER to improve. After the event, A Pouchin stated that he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to hold a forward position and as a result in the Home Straight VANTASTIC CHOICE did not finish the race off strongly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 DH 12 CURRAHEE (J204) M Chadwick Shifted in shortly after the start, was bumped and became unbalanced. Approaching the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly and was checked to avoid VANTASTIC CHOICE. As a result, CURRAHEE shifted out abruptly before being corrected by its rider, however, was then obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

3 1 SUMMIT CHEERS (E221) A Badel When questioned regarding SUMMIT CHEERS racing in a more forward position today, A Badel stated that with his mount dropping in grade and racing in blinkers, the intention was to hold a more forward position. He said when a number of runners did not jump well, SUMMIT CHEERS was able to race in the lead without being pressured to do so and this resulted in an improved performance today.

After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount raced greenly and hung out throughout and made it difficult for him to ride his mount out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The barrier manners and racing manners of HAPPY SHOOTER were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY SHOOTER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

After the event, A Pouchin reported that his mount was out-paced in the early stages, settled back in the field and did not run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 14 FLYING DRAGON (E360) A Hamelin Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected and as a result jumped awkwardly and lost ground. For some distance approaching the 500 Metres raced tight between HAPPY SHOOTER and POLARIS. Near the 200 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between LOVING VIBES and SHINY RAPIDASH which shifted in. After the event, A Hamelin reported that after missing the start and settling further back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

4 7 I AM THE BOSS (H446) A Hamelin A Hamelin was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference after the 1300 Metres (see GOLD MASTER). Near the 250 Metres A Hamelin dropped his whip.

7 9 GOLD MASTER (J389) A Atzeni A Hamelin (I AM THE BOSS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1300 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of SOLID WIN, resulting in SOLID WIN being taken in onto VIVA CHALEUR, resulting in VIVA CHALEUR being taken in towards GOLD MASTER which resulted in GOLD MASTER losing its rightful running between YEE CHEONG RAIDER and VIVA CHALEUR, striking the heels of VIVA CHALEUR and blundering badly. A Hamelin was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 5 January 2025 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. Near the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied away from BEAUTY LIVE. Approaching the 600 Metres raced tight between ORIENTAL SMOKE and YEE CHEONG RAIDER which shifted out slightly.
9 10 HAILTOTHEVICTORS (J508) M L Yeung Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind ORIENTAL SMOKE. After being shifted to the inside of GOLD MASTER approaching the 150 Metres again had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages when racing tight between GOLD MASTER and BEAUTY LIVE.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he allowed ATOMIC BEAUTY to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground. A short distance later CALIFORNIA STAR then commenced to race keenly and got its head up and shifted out when being positioned close to LUCKY GOLD. As a result, CALIFORNIA STAR was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When WISDOM STAR then attempted to obtain a position in behind NEW FUTURE FOLKS, WISDOM STAR became positioned close to the heels of NEW FUTURE FOLKS and as a result was checked and lost ground. The Stewards found the manner in which WISDOM STAR shifted in to obtain cover was the main reason for it having to be checked.

He said when unable to obtain a position close to the rail MIGHTY STRIDE was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued and attributed today’s performance to the fact that MIGHTY STRIDE was caught wide and without cover. FE 5 JOYFUL HUNTER (H198) L Hewitson J McDonald (SWIFT ASCEND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 450 Metres he directed his mount out to the outside of CHARMING BABE when not clear of LUCKY ARCHANGEL, resulting in SWIFT ASCEND making heavy contact with LUCKY ARCHANGEL and taking that horse across the running of JOYFUL HUNTER, resulting in JOYFUL HUNTER falling and L Hewitson being dislodged. Jockey Hewitson was transported to hospital for treatment. J McDonald was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 26 December 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 16 January 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (7 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey McDonald was fined $60,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 3 and the consequences grade 5 and also considered his very good race riding record. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. <16/12/2024 Additional Veterinary Report> JOYFUL HUNTER, which fell near the 450 Metres, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was found to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. JOYFUL HUNTER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
11 6 SUPER INFINITY (J320) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 450 Metres was severely checked to avoid the fallen JOYFUL HUNTER, resulting in its rider Z Purton being placed at a disadvantage when the horse’s bridle was displaced. As a result, SUPER INFINITY took no further part in the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <16/12/2024 Additional Veterinary Report> SUPER INFINITY, which was severely checked near the 450 Metres, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SUPER INFINITY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer M Newnham this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER INFINITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
3 7 MAJESTIC EXPRESS (J244) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and was bumped by SWIFT ASCEND. Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind SWIFT ASCEND.

C L Chau (GOLDEN ARTIE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in whilst riding it along, resulting in LUPO SOLITARIO losing its rightful running and being checked. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 1 January 2025 and to expire on Monday, 6 January 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
