13 6 CASA LEGEND (G126) M F Poon (-2) Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between CHARMANDER which shifted out slightly and ON THE LASH which shifted in. Over the final 100 Metres raced tight between CHARMANDER and INVINCIBLE MISSILE which shifted in slightly and as a result could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
2 7 CERVIN (H253) K De Melo Throughout the early stages raced keenly and from the 900 Metres raced wide and without cover. Sent for sampling post-race.
10 8 ON THE LASH (J182) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and was bumped. Near the 300 Metres became held up for clear running between SMASHING EXPRESS and WINNING SEVEN which shifted out. In this incident, ON THE LASH lay in towards the heels of WINNING SEVEN and was steadied near the 250 Metres.
6 9 CHILLI BABA (G339) A Hamelin From the 700 Metres until the 400 Metres was held up and unable to improve when positioned behind ON THE LASH. After the 400 Metres had difficulty securing clear running when obtaining a narrow run between SMASHING EXPRESS and CHARMANDER and as a result did not secure clear running until near the 300 Metres.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he allowed his mount to stride forward and lead to avoid covering additional ground.

13 7 PATCH OF LUCKY (J349) M Chadwick Approaching the 400 Metres raced in restricted room between SOMELOVEFROMABOVE which shifted out slightly and ETALON OR which shifted in. Near the 300 Metres raced tight between CALIFORNIA MOXIE and BEAR CHAMP, both of which shifted ground slightly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

14 10 BEAR CHAMP (J313) A Atzeni After the event, A Atzeni stated that when he was concerned there may be something amiss with his mount in the Home Straight, he eased it down from the race when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, BEAR CHAMP will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 11 THE AUSPICIOUS (K004) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and became unbalanced. Near the 100 Metres shifted to the outside of STORM RUNNER to continue into clear running.
9 12 CASHISCASH (J369) C L Chau (-2) Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Approaching the 1100 Metres was bumped by BEAR CHAMP which, after improving to the inside of KA YING ATTACK, was then taken in slightly by that runner. Near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from WORLD HERO. CASHISCASH continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages.

8 2 SUPER GOLDI (H477) A Pouchin Jumped awkwardly. For some distance after the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when it was shifted to the outside of WIN SPEED.
14 3 DEAL COMPLETED (J378) H Bentley Near the 500 Metres was bumped by ROMAN CROWN which shifted out. After the event, H Bentley reported that the instructions were to endeavour to obtain a midfield position with cover. He said in the early stages he was unable to comply with his instructions when a number of runners to his inside held their position which resulted in DEAL COMPLETED racing very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
13 4 BEAUTY INVINCIBLE (J419) Y L Chung (-3) Lost its right front plate in the saddling area and made contact with a rail. This plate was refitted. BEAUTY INVINCIBLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped only fairly. When placed under pressure in the Home Straight shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider Y L Chung having to stop riding and straighten his mount. BEAUTY INVINCIBLE lay out for the remainder of the event. The racing manners of BEAUTY INVINCIBLE were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY INVINCIBLE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial in Hong Kong. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 5 WIN SPEED (J205) H Bowman Bumped at the start. After the event, H Bowman reported that he was obliged to make some use of his mount in the early stages to hold a position outside the lead. He said WIN SPEED did not settle during the early and middle stages and gave ground in the Home Straight. Trainer M Newnham agreed with the comments made by Jockey Bowman but also indicated that WIN SPEED would derive benefit from today’s performance as it had had over four weeks from its last race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WIN SPEED was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, WIN SPEED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When HAPPY PARK then shifted out, SUNNY DA BEST was checked when disappointed for this run and as a result was held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 200 Metres where it shifted to the outside of SKY JOY. Near the 300 Metres FLYING DOUBLE then had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between MULTIBINGO and CIRCUIT VICTORY.

8 11 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) B Avdulla C L Chau (SKY JOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 900 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NOBLE DELUXE, resulting in NOBLE DELUXE losing its running and being checked to avoid the heels of SKY JOY. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 22 January 2025 and to expire on Monday, 27 January 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chau was fined $25,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his neutral race riding record.

C L Chau (LUCKY EIGHT) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 450 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when there was insufficient room for runners to his inside, resulting in RIDING TOGETHER being taken in and crowding the running of ALSONSO, resulting in ALSONSO losing its running and being checked. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 and to expire on Monday, 17 February 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chau was fined $25,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his neutral race riding record. After the event, L Ferraris reported that after receiving interference on the Home Turn his mount was unable to finish the race off thereafter, however, made a respiratory noise towards the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

In this incident, BLESSED NATION was then steadied when crowded between GLORIOUS SUCCESS and SUPERB BOY which shifted out and away from JOHANNES BRAHMS. The Stewards found that the initial contact from BLESSED NATION (M L Yeung) was the principal reason for the incident occurring. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care and to ensure that there is sufficient room when he is improving into runs.
