EVER SMART was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. On the Home Turn was briefly held up for clear running. After the event, H Bowman reported that his instructions were to endeavour to hold a midfield position. He said after jumping only fairly and then being crowded shortly after the start EVER SMART raced further back in the field than intended.

11 8 HERO STAR (D033) Y L Chung (-3) After FAIRY HORSE became fractious, HERO STAR which was in the adjoining stall, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
6 9 CIRCUIT TEN (G429) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly and shifted in. Approaching the 300 Metres was briefly held up for clear running. After the event, B Avdulla reported that with the hood and pacifiers being removed tonight, CIRCUIT TEN raced too keenly. He said, in his opinion, CIRCUIT TEN would be better suited by being taken back in distance and the hood and pacifiers being reapplied to the horse. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 10 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) M F Poon Approaching the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded between SPEEDY CHARIOT and E GLORY, both of which shifted ground slightly. After the event, M F Poon stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but after being bumped shortly after the start settled further back than anticipated.
4 11 SPEEDY CHARIOT (H193) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by CIRCUIT TEN which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
10 12 E GLORY (H304) M Chadwick After the 600 Metres was checked when momentarily crowded by WINNING HEART (H Bentley) which shifted in quickly before being corrected by its rider. H Bentley was advised to exercise more care.
WV-A 7 FAIRY HORSE (J144) E C W Wong (-7) After being loaded into the starting gates became fractious, reared and got both front legs over the front of the gates. Acting on veterinary advice that FAIRY HORSE was not suitable to race the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. The Stewards ruled that FAIRY HORSE will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials and being subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

12 5 KA YING RESILIENCE (J439) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount jumped only fairly and as a result he rode it along in the early stages to hold a forward position. He said throughout the early and middle stages KA YING RESILIENCE was not comfortable racing between CLUB ACE and LEAN MASTER and was under pressure throughout these sections of the race. He said on the Home Turn KA YING RESILIENCE failed to respond to his riding and gave ground from that point onwards. Trainer D A Hayes stated that he had been pleased with KA YING RESILIENCE in the lead up to tonight’s race and in particular the horse had barrier trialed well on 16 December 2024. He added that he had expected KA YING RESILIENCE to perform well but agreed with Jockey Purton that KA YING RESILIENCE was not comfortable racing in amongst other horses but also would be better suited over 1200 Metres at Happy Valley where there is usually less pressure in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of KA YING RESILIENCE was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, KA YING RESILIENCE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. 11 6 CHILL MASTER (J319) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly, got its head up, shifted in and made contact with BEAUTY THUNDER. A short distance later, CHILL MASTER was then checked when crowded between BEAUTY THUNDER and BITS SUPERSTAR which raced tight to the inside of SUPER SIXTY. Near the 800 Metres, when racing keenly, was checked when it improved close to the heels of WISDOM STAR. Making the turn after the 600 Metres was steadied when it lay out towards BEAUTY THUNDER. After the event, M F Poon reported that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, raced greenly throughout the race.
3 7 CLUB ACE (J523) H Bowman Jumped only fairly. After travelling a short distance was bumped by KA YING RESILIENCE which shifted in and away from LEAN MASTER.
8 8 HAPPY TANGO (D075) Y L Chung (-3) Bumped at the start. After the event, Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but despite riding his mount along in the early stages HAPPY TANGO did not show sufficient pace to do so.
6 9 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with HAPPY TANGO. When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead and obtain a position on the rail as PARENTS’ LOVE races best in this position. He said in the early stages when unable to cross NOTTHESILLYONE he elected to race outside that horse but in the Home Straight PARENTS’ LOVE hung in and proved difficult to ride out. He added that over the concluding stages when he was concerned that PARENTS’ LOVE may shift in and crowd the running of NOTTHESILLYONE he was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount to avoid causing interference. He said as a consequence he was unable to ride PARENTS’ LOVE out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

6 2 CALIFORNIA VOCE (H258) B Avdulla Bumped shortly after the start. After the event, B Avdulla reported that his mount failed to run out the 2200 Metres of tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <27/12/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports>After the race, CALIFORNIA VOCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. CALIFORNIA VOCE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA VOCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
5 3 ROCKET SPADE (G170) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 250 Metres raced tight between SIMPLE HEDGE and WINNING STEPS. Approaching the 100 Metres improved into a narrow run between SHARPEN BRIGHT and CALIFORNIA VOCE and raced tight for a short distance thereafter between those two runners.
1 5 NOISY BOY (J536) Z Purton Jumped only fairly. Sent for sampling post-race.
9 6 FRANTANCK (H429) L Hewitson When questioned, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to lead the event, but he was advised not to excessively restrain the horse as it has a respiratory condition and has been reported as a "roarer”. He said after leading the event in the early stages, near the 1600 Metres FRANTANCK raced keenly and lay in which resulted in it making contact with the running rail near the 1200 Metres. He said whilst he was aware he was setting a fast pace, having regard to his instructions not to excessively restrain his mount, FRANTANCK set a faster pace than he would have liked despite his best endeavours to restrain his mount in accordance with his instructions. He added that as a result of the manner in which FRANTANCK raced throughout the early and middle stages it gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer’ which had previously been reported.
8 7 STELLAR GRANDE (J189) L Ferraris Crowded shortly after start. In the Home Straight lay in.

7 10 WINNING STEPS (G420) A Atzeni After the event, A Atzeni reported that his mount failed to run out the 2200 Metres of tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

12 2 PRIME MORTAR (G328) Y L Chung (-3) Jumped only fairly and then bumped with YOUNG HORIZON. After the 1100 Metres, when racing keenly, was shifted in, made contact with MR VALIANT and then was steadied to avoid CRYSTAL POWERFUL for some distance thereafter. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 3 OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) L Hewitson After the event, L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to ride his mount in a more conservative manner in the early stages, however, OWNERS’ PRAISE jumped well and raced in a more forward position without being pressured to do so. He added, in his opinion, OWNERS’ PRAISE would be better suited by being ridden further back in the field.

In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from OWNERS’ PRAISE.
5 11 VIGOR ELLEEGANT (J375) M L Yeung Shifted out on jumping and made contact with the hindquarters of MR VALIANT, resulting in MR VALIANT then being turned in and crowding VIGOR ELLEEGANT for a short distance thereafter. After the 1100 Metres was checked when crowded between OWNERS’ PRAISE (L Hewitson) which shifted out slightly and MR VALIANT which raced tight to the inside of PRIME MORTAR (Y L Chung) when that runner lay in and away from CRYSTAL POWERFUL (A Atzeni) when CRYSTAL POWERFUL was commencing to shift in. L Hewitson, Y L Chung and A Atzeni were all advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Y L Chung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 8 January 2025 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
8 5 SILVER KING (H420) Y L Chung (-3) Y L Chung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 1500 Metres (see TURIN WARRIOR).
5 6 CLASSIC CENTURY (J440) L Ferraris After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CLASSIC CENTURY at the request of Trainer M Newnham. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSIC CENTURY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

12 8 HAPPY AGAIN (J117) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. The performance of HAPPY AGAIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY AGAIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 9 HAPPY TRIO (G244) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and was bumped on the hindquarters. Near the 400 Metres was eased when crowded between SILVER KING and TO INFINITY (A Badel) which, after shifting to the outside of RED MAJESTY and having HAPPY TRIO tight, was then taken out by RED MAJESTY. A Badel was advised to exercise more care. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

He said such instructions were issued as WINDICATOR FAMILY had been racing in a disappointing manner when settling further back in its races.

Crowded near the 1000 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion that SKY FOREVER had bled, the horse is permanently barred from any further racing.
11 2 HAPPY DAY (G119) B Avdulla L Hewitson (GLORY B) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of GIMME FIVE, resulting in GIMME FIVE being taken out onto TOGEPI, resulting in TOGEPI taking TOP TIME out and causing HAPPY DAY to be checked to avoid the heels of TOP TIME. L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 15 January 2025 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.

7 7 ZETTA FORCE (J546) C L Chau (-2) Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between SKY FOREVER and LUCKY GENERATIONS which was taken out by GIMME FIVE which shifted out after making contact with STORM RUNNER which shifted out slightly. Crowded near the 1000 Metres. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ZETTA FORCE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ZETTA FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
4 8 LUCKY GENERATIONS (J338) H Bentley At declaration time, H Bentley was declared as the rider of both STORM RUNNER and LUCKY GENERATIONS. It was established that H Bentley had a firm commitment to ride LUCKY GENERATIONS. As such, the Stewards permitted M F Poon to be substituted as the rider of STORM RUNNER. For this declaration error, H Bentley was fined $2,000. Crowded shortly after the start. M L Yeung (TOGEPI) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in SKY FOREVER, which was racing keenly to its inside, being taken in, crowding the running of ZETTA FORE, resulting in LUCKY GENERATIONS being badly crowded for room and having to be checked. M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 15 January 2025 and to expire on Monday, 20 January 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

After the event, L Hewitson stated that the intention was to find cover on his mount. He said with the hood being removed tonight, GLORY B jumped well and was able to go forward and race outside the lead, particularly in circumstances where the early pace of the event was run outside of standard time. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward to avoid racing wide. He said as a result of this SMART CITY was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. Passing the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid EMBRACES. For some distance approaching the 700 Metres raced keenly and after being steadied away from HAPPY UNIVERSE near the 700 Metres commenced a forward move thereafter where it raced very wide and without cover. 11 11 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then raced tight between HAPPY UNIVERSE and SMART CITY which shifted out slightly. In the early stages, when caught wide, was allowed to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the leaders, however, ISLAND GOLDEN was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter. For some distance approaching the 300 Metres raced tight between TAKE ACTION and TEAM HAPPY (A Pouchin) which shifted to the outside of SMART CITY. A Pouchin was advised to exercise more care.

He added in the Home Straight FLYING FORTRESS lay in and as a result he pulled his whip to the right hand near the 100 Metres but over the concluding stages could not ride his mount with full vigour when it was positioned close to NORDIC DRAGON.
