1 ASIAN ONE (E400) A Atzeni Bumped at the start. Near the 250 Metres was bumped by CHIRON when crowded for room between CHIRON and M M NEBULA which shifted in slightly. 11 TRAVEL GOLF (H063) A Hamelin When questioned, A Hamelin stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed by Trainer C H Yip to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages. He said after settling at the rear of the field, he placed TRAVEL GOLF under pressure leaving the 500 Metres, however, his mount lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of runners in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

7 SKY HEART (J092) B Shinn When questioned regarding SKY HEART being ridden in a forward position today, B Shinn stated that from a wide barrier he was given the option if his mount began well, he should take advantage of that and go forward. He said when FULL CREDIT, which was positioned to his inside, jumped only fairly, he elected to immediately ride his mount along to cross runners to his inside. He said after beginning well and when the pace of the event in the early stages was outside of standard, he elected to allow BEAUTY CRESCENT to stride forward and lead the event without pressuring his mount to do so.
6 SPEED DRAGON (H380) M Barzalona Shortly after the start was crowded and checked.
7 UNBELIEVABLE (J130) K C Leung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

12 FALLON (H219) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and was bumped shortly after. D Lane (SIMPLY MAVERICK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of SPEED DRAGON, resulting in SPEED DRAGON being taken in and checked, crowding the running of KA YING GENERATION, resulting in KA YING GENERATION having to be checked and FALLON being crowded onto the heels of HELIOS EXPRESS and having to be checked. D Lane was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 24 March 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 28 March 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and as to whether there was an option to follow HELIOS EXPRESS and CHANCHENG GLORY to the inside, M L Yeung stated that the preference was to obtain a run to the outside as FALLON had raced best when ridden in this manner. He said after entering the Home Straight when he was of the view there was no clear run to the inside, he elected to shift FALLON to the outside to secure clear running. M L Yeung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 350 Metres (see KA YING GENERATION).

1 BRAVEHEARTS (H389) A Hamelin Crowded shortly after the start.
2 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) R Moore Slow to begin. Bumped on the headquarters near the 350 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 SILVER KING (H420) M L Yeung Bumped at the start. Ran wide making the first turn. The performance of SILVER KING, which finished tailed out on the second occasion in recent starts, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SILVER KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
4 MASSIVE SOVEREIGN (J208) Z Purton Jumped only fairly. Sent for sampling post-race.
5 LEAN HERO (G402) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LEAN HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
6 NOBLE PURSUIT (H324) H Bowman When questioned regarding his riding, H Bowman stated that he anticipated taking up a handy position with cover. He said in the early stages he was able to obtain a position behind ENIGMA, however, that runner raced keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions. He added that after entering the Back Straight when he observed FLAMINGO TRILLION racing in a three wide position, he was of the view it would be advantageous to shift NOBLE PURSUIT out and to follow FLAMINGO TRILLION to provide his mount with a trail into the event. He added when he commenced a forward move, ENIGMA, which had continued to race keenly, shifted out which resulted in NOBLE PURSUIT being taken four wide and without cover near the 1100 Metres. He said as a result when he was of the view the pace of the event would allow him to do so, he then commenced to allow NOBLE PURSUIT to stride forward with a view to crossing FLAMINGO TRILLION. He said as he commenced to do so, the pace of the event quickened when FLAMINGO TRILLION endeavoured to prevent NOBLE PURSUIT from crossing which then resulted in NOBLE PURSUIT being obliged to race four wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres. After considering the explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman were reasonable and that he would not have been able to reasonably anticipate ENIGMA shifting out near the 1100 Metres as its rider Apprentice Y L Chung had endeavoured to remain racing behind LEAN HERO throughout the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 DEVILDOM (H445) C L Chau (-2) No report.
8 INTREPID WINNER (G144) K De Melo From the 450 Metres was held up for clear running behind SILVER KING as that runner commenced to give ground. Near the 350 Metres was checked when disappointed between SIMPLE HEDGE and SILVER KING and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of SIMPLE HEDGE.
