13 1 MAGNIAC (H141) J Orman On jumping was bumped by SMART ENGINEER on the hindquarters. Leaving the 300 Metres was bumped by RUN RAN RUN which shifted out and away from SHINY RAPIDASH. C L Chau (SHINY RAPIDASH) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of MAGNIAC, resulting in MAGNIAC having to be checked when crowded between PEJIBAYE and SHINY RAPIDASH. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 27 April 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 1 May 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chau was fined $25,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very poor race riding record. The penalty was further mitigated due to SHINY RAPIDASH initially shifting out and away from MOUNT EVEREST and PEJIBAYE shifting in slightly when racing tight to the inside of DAZZLING FIT.

He said for this reason when racing tight to the outside of PEJIBAYE after the 200 Metres he used the whip in a forehand manner forward of the saddle as he was unable to make contact behind the saddle. Jockey Ferraris was fined the sum of $5,000 for using the whip in this manner. He said after commencing well AMAZING GALAXY showed sufficient pace to race in a position outside the lead but raced keenly through the early and middle stages. He added over the concluding stages AMAZING GALAXY changed stride and shifted ground which resulted in him becoming unbalanced in the saddle and not being able to ride his mount out to the finish of the event.
10 12 SHINY RAPIDASH (J492) C L Chau (-2) In the early stages raced keenly when being crossed by AMAZING GALAXY. As a result, near the 1000 Metres SHINY RAPIDASH shifted out when being steadied. C L Chau was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see MAGNIAC).
8 13 POCHETTINO (J149) A Badel Leaving the 1000 Metres was taken wider by SHINY RAPIDASH. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
4 14 KING OBERON (H407) K De Melo Near the 950 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from SMART ENGINEER. Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid BULL ATTITUDE when racing keenly. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight K De Melo stated that when positioned behind MOUNT EVEREST he was unable to test his mount approaching the 400 Metres when MOUNT EVEREST shifted out. He added as MOUNT EVEREST was then inclined to shift ground, between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres he was unable to fully test his mount until MOUNT EVEREST shifted out near the 250 Metres where he was able to obtain clear running to its inside.

An inquiry into the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow Trainer W K Mo to attend who was not currently present in Hong Kong. Before being allowed to race again, LEGENDARY IMPACT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <9/4/2025 Adjourned Inquiry – 6 April 2025 Sha Tin Racemeeting – Race 6 (567)> The Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the withdrawal of LEGENDARY IMPACT from the said race. Evidence was taken from Trainer W K Mo, Assistant Trainer K H Lam, Work Riders S L Lee and C K Sze, and Dr B S Forbes, Head of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards established that despite having systems in place to prevent the administration of treatment on raceday, subsequent to LEGENDARY IMPACT working on the morning of 6 April 2025, it was inadvertently treated with Swede Clay, a topical treatment which does not contain any prohibited substances and is the usual treatment for the horse post track work. The Stewards were satisfied that the treatment was an oversight and not intentional conduct. Mr Mo pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 155(29) for causing the application of the raceday treatment in that he did not have proper processes in place to prevent such treatment occurring. Mr Mo was fined the sum of $20,000. A report will be made to the Stables Management in relation to the conduct of the above staff members.

2 1 HELENE FEELING (H215) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
7 2 THE GOLDEN SCENERY (E379) H Bowman Jumped only fairly. After the event, H Bowman stated that his mount was not suited by the early and middle stage of the event being run outside of standard time. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
3 3 WINNING DRAGON (E461) B Avdulla When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages and to endeavour to improve along the rail. He said in accordance with his instructions he allowed WINNING DRAGON to settle towards the rear of the field in the early stages but when positioned to the outside of SNOWFIELD he elected to restrain his mount to obtain a position on the rail. He added that in the Home Straight he initially improved to the inside of THE GOLDEN SCENERY with a view to then improving to the inside of WOODFIRE BRO which had shifted out slightly entering the Home Straight. He said when WOODFIRE BRO shifted back in WINNING DRAGON was briefly held up before being shifted to the outside of WOODFIRE BRO approaching the 350 Metres. He further stated that approaching the 250 Metres the intention was to improve between C P BRAVE and HELENE FEELING but when those two runners shifted ground slightly he was obliged to continue to shift to the outside of HELENE FEELING where he secured clear running after the 150 Metres and his mount found the line well. Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions issued and stated that with WINNING DRAGON dropping back in distance to 1600 Metres he did not believe the horse would have sufficient pace to hold a more favourable position from its awkward barrier. He added that he was satisfied with the tactics adopted by Jockey Avdulla in endeavouring to improve along the inside as, in his opinion, the racing pattern of today had favoured runners being ridden in this manner. Mr Cruz said as WINNING DRAGON steps up in distance it will be the intention to hold a more forward position if the pace of the event allows it to do so.

11 2 KA YING SUPERB (J091) M F Poon After the event, M F Poon stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount to hold the lead but was disadvantaged by being pressured by FUN TOGETHER. He added that as a consequence in the Home Straight KA YING SUPERB gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 3 FUN TOGETHER (H041) P N Wong (-10) Sent for sampling post-race.
2 4 ETALON OR (J273) A Badel Bumped at the start. A Badel was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see ALWAYS MY FOLKS). After the event, A Badel stated that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Mr Y K Lau, Acting Assistant Trainer, confirmed the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
12 5 AUTUMN VIBES (K150) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount jumped awkwardly and as a result lost ground and settled at the tail of the field. He said in the early stages AUTUMN VIBES raced keenly and was steadied away from SHAMUS STORM near the 1000 Metres. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, Z Purton stated that after improving to the inside of SHAMUS STORM on entering the Home Straight he commenced to place his mount under pressure, however, when VIEW ALL THINGS commenced to give ground quickly he became held up behind that runner between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres. He added after improving to the outside of VIEW ALL THINGS, he was then placed close to the heels of SHAMUS STORM for some distance thereafter. When questioned regarding his vigour from near the 200 Metres, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, AUTUMN VIBES was under pressure and laying in and for this reason he did not fully test his mount through this section of the race as he was of the opinion the horse was not responding to his efforts. Trainer J Richards stated that if AUTUMN VIBES commenced well the option was to take up a more forward position but accepted that on jumping AUTUMN VIBES commenced awkwardly and settled back. He added whilst acknowledging AUTUMN VIBES had been held up in the early part of the Home Straight he felt there was an opportunity for Jockey Purton to place more pressure on his mount from near the 200 Metres. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Purton that, in their opinion, he should have ridden his mount with more vigour after the 200 Metres to fully demonstrate that the horse was unable to respond further to his riding and in such circumstances to ride his mounts in such a manner to leave no room for query. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AUTUMN VIBES was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, AUTUMN VIBES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

L Hewitson was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see ALWAYS MY FOLKS). When questioned, L Hewitson stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages to allow the horse to finish off. Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions issued and said at its last start SHAMUS STORM was not suited by being ridden forward and had barrier trialed well on 14 March 2025 when it was ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.

4 11 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) H Bowman Bumped at the 400 Metres.
14 12 VIEW ALL THINGS (K101) M L Yeung After the event, M L Yeung stated that from an inside barrier he was able to obtain a more forward position today.
