8 2 NINJA DERBY (H339) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla stated that his mount came under pressure leaving the 700 Metres and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

2 1 GIDDY UP (J020) B Avdulla After the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of SPICY SPANGLE when that runner shifted to the outside of NORTHER FIRE BALL to obtain clear running. In this incident, GIDDY UP made contact with TEAM HAPPY. Sent for sampling post-race.
1 2 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) C L Chau (-2) Sent for sampling post-race.
12 3 MASTER OF HUMOR (K281) Y L Chung (-3) On jumping was bumped by ORIENTAL SURPRISE. After the 1100 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Was left racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.
3 4 LOVEISINTHEAIR (J550) H Bowman When questioned, H Bowman stated that from an inside barrier his instructions were, if possible to hold a slightly more forward position. He said LOVEISINTHEAIR jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and as a result settled a little further back than intended. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight H Bowman stated that LOVEISINTHEAIR, which was having its third race start, did not appreciate racing amongst horses and as a result he was reluctant to force his mount to improve between NORTHERN FIRE BALL and SPICY SPANGLE. He said when he observed NORTHERN FIRE BALL to shift out away from the rail near the 200 Metres he then considered allowing his mount to improve to the inside of NORTHERN FIRE BALL as it was already shifting in towards the running rail. He said when NORTHERN FIRE BALL did not leave sufficient room for LOVEISINTHEAIR to improve to its inside he was obliged to stop riding with the whip and direct LOVEISINTHEAIR to the outside of NORTHERN FIRE BALL approaching the 50 Metres to ensure his mount obtained clear running to the finish. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman were reasonable in the circumstances.
4 5 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) A Hamelin Over the concluding stages was eased when crowded between LOVEISINTHEAIR and GIDDY UP (B Avdulla) which shifted in. B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care.
7 6 CHILL MASTER (J319) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

8 10 TEAM HAPPY (J218) L Hewitson When caught wide and without cover in the early stages was ridden forward near the 600 Metres to cross ORIENTAL SURPRISE and race outside the lead. Near the 250 Metres was bumped by GIDDY UP.
9 11 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) K Teetan Leaving the 1100 Metres made contact with MASTER OF HUMOR and became unbalanced as it was being shifted behind that runner to obtain cover. After the event, K Teetan reported that his mount raced too keenly in the early and middle stages and as a result did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. Trainer C S Shum stated that TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR was disadvantaged by racing keenly throughout the event which restricted its ability to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 12 SAME TO YOU (H057) A Atzeni After the event, A Atzeni reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

8 4 TOY SOLTERO (J268) L Hewitson After travelling a short distance was bumped by HARMONY GALAXY which shifted out. From the 800 Metres commenced a forward move and raced wide and without cover thereafter. Near the 600 Metres TOY SOLTERO was bumped by FLOOF when that runner shifted to the outside of FIREFOOT. Approaching the 50 Metres was checked when crowded between FLOOF which shifted in and away from HARMONY GALAXY despite the efforts of its rider and BRAVE WITNESS which was taken out by YOUTH POWER (M L Yeung) when after improving into a narrow run to the outside of FIREFOOT (J Orman) was then taken out by FIREFOOT. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care and to ensure there is sufficient room where he is improving. J Orman was advised to exercise more care and to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.
10 5 CHARMING STEED (E494) E C W Wong (-7) After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount raced keenly when positioned outside the leader YODA’S CHOICE and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. BRAVE WITNESS was then held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres when it was positioned behind CAN’T GO WONG and racing tight between YOUTH POWER and TOY SOLTERO. After the event, K Teetan stated that his mount stumbled on jumping and as a result lost ground. He said in the early stages he did not ride his mount along when he was ensuring that BRAVE WITNESS had not sustained any issue from this incident.
11 9 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) L Ferraris Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the event, L Ferraris stated that his mount was able to lead but during the running of the race made a respiratory noise. He added that he endeavoured to increase the tempo on YODA’S CHOICE from the 600 Metres as is its usual racing pattern but the horse did not respond and gave ground under pressure in the Home Straight. Trainer P C Ng advised that, in his opinion, YODA’S CHOICE is better suited racing on the All Weather surface. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of YODA’S CHOICE, a last start winner, was considered disappointing. Before being allowed to race again, YODA’S CHOICE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 10 THE WAY WE WIN (J493) Y L Chung (-3) After the event, Y L Chung advised that from the inside barrier and his mount stepping up slightly in distance he was requested to take up a more forward position than its previous race starts.
9 11 ME TIME (J074) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Leaving the 500 Metres improved into a tight run between FLOOF and CAN’T GO WONG and raced tight between those two runners thereafter. Near the 350 Metres ME TIME, which continued to race tight, was checked when crowded between FLOOF and CAN’T GO WONG (M F Poon) which shifted to the outside of CHARMING STEED. M F Poon was severely reprimanded. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, A Atzeni stated that near the 250 Metres he observed FLOOF to shift out slightly and TOY SOLTERO to lay in. He said as a result he placed his mount under pressure with a view to improving between those two runners. He added when TOY SOLTERO then commenced to give ground and shift out, he was obliged to check his mount leaving the 200 Metres when disappointed for clear running between FLOOF and TOY SOLTERO. He said as a result ME TIME did not obtain clear running thereafter. Notwithstanding the fact that TOY SOLTERO shifted out when giving ground, A Atzeni was advised that he should ensure there is sufficient room when improving into runs.
6 12 YOUTH POWER (H358) M L Yeung On jumping was crowded between HARMONY GALAXY and ME TIME which shifted out. Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind CHARMING STEED. When being shifted to the outside of CHARMING STEED then continued to be held up between CHARMING STEED and CAN’T GO WONG. As a result, YOUTH POWER did not obtain clear running between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres. Over the final 100 Metres could not be fully ridden out when unable to obtain a narrow run between FIREFOOT and CAN’T GO WONG. After the event, M L Yeung stated that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but YOUTH POWER failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.

4 4 SKY VINO (K054) E C W Wong (-7) No report.
12 5 GALLANT EPOCH (J451) L Hewitson When questioned regarding his riding and the fast early pace his mount set throughout the early and middle stages, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to take up a forward position but to ensure that his mount did not obtain cover as GALLANT EPOCH has raced best when able to dictate. He said in the early stages he rode his mount along to comply with his instructions where he obtained a position outside the leader KINGLY DEMEANOR. He said near the 1200 Metres he then urged his mount forward to cross KINGLY DEMEANOR which resulted in GALLANT EPOCH commencing to race keenly. He added when positioned in advance of KINGLY DEMEANOR near the 1100 Metres he encouraged his mount forward to cross that runner but GALLANT EPOCH did not show sufficient pace to do so and as a result he was obliged to make further use of his mount entering the Back Straight where he eventually was able to cross KINGLY DEMEANOR near the 800 Metres. Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued and stated that GALLANT EPOCH may have been disadvantaged by having its first race start at Happy Valley. After considering the sectional times of the event which showed the early stages of the race being run well inside of standard time, L Hewitson was advised by the Stewards that he had made an error of judgement in the early stages by continuing to endeavour to go forward to cross KINGLY DEMEANOR. He was further advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to show better judgement than what he did on this occasion. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
3 6 THE AZURE (J227) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
9 7 RED MAJESTY (E028) K Teetan Was obliged to race wide and without cover from the 700 Metres. 7 8 OCEAN IMPACT (J502) J Orman Jumped awkwardly. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between FLYING SILVER which shifted out slightly when giving ground and THE AZURE. Raced tight between FLYING SILVER and THE AZURE near the 200 Metres when THE AZURE shifted in. After the event, J Orman stated that his mount travelled only fairly during the race and he was obliged to make some use of OCEAN IMPACT to hold his position. He added after racing tight in the Home Straight his mount finished the race off in a one-paced manner and would be better suited stepping up in distance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 9 JUMBO FORTUNE (G195) A Hamelin Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid OCEAN IMPACT when held up behind that runner.
8 10 TO INFINITY (G277) Y L Chung (-3) Passing the 350 Metres became held up behind FLYING SILVER and did not obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres.
10 11 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) M L Yeung Approaching the 800 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of GALLANT EPOCH (L Hewitson) which shifted in when not quite clear. KINGLY DEMEANOR (M L Yeung) then contested a position to the outside of GALLANT EPOCH and to the inside of SKY VINO but was prevented from shifting out as SKY VINO (Apprentice E C W Wong) improved forward and held its position. L Hewitson was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Both M L Yeung and Apprentice Wong were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
11 12 FLYING SILVER (E478) A Badel After the event, A Badel stated that the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages from its wide barrier.

5 3 CAMBRIDGE (K085) K C Leung Bumped on jumping. Y L Chung (GOOD LUCK WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CAMBRIDGE, resulting in CAMBRIDGE having to be checked to avoid the heels of GOOD LUCK WIN. Y L Chung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 27 April 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 1 May 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 450 Metres was briefly held up behind GOOD LUCK WIN. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when held up behind OUTGATE which commenced to give ground.
2 4 ROCKET SPADE (G170) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Held up on the Home Turn. Sent for sampling post-race.

11 7 SUPER UNICORN (H481) M L Yeung After the event, M L Yeung stated that his instructions were to go forward. He said with the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time his mount did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. He added, in his view, SUPER UNICORN may be better suited by being ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
4 8 IVY LEAGUE (H116) K De Melo Bumped on jumping.
8 9 SETANTA (G095) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
1 10 FLYING FORTRESS (J445) H Bentley Made contact with OUTGATE when being shifted out near the 500 Metres to improve. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 11 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) Y L Chung (-3) Y L Chung (GOOD LUCK WIN) pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 1100 Metres (see CAMBRIDGE). When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages, Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to endeavour to lead the event with the horse carrying a light weight. He said in the early stages he endeavoured to comply with his instructions, however, when a number of runners held their position to his inside GOOD LUCK WIN was caught very wide. He said having regard to his instructions he continued to urge his mount forward but when unable to cross he elected, approaching the 1100 Metres, to shift in behind the leaders to obtain cover. The Stewards advised Jockey Chung that he had made an error of judgement in the early stages by persisting for too long in an endeavour to cross runners to his inside and he should have taken a position with cover behind the leaders sooner than what he did. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

3. Adjourned Inquiry – 6 April 2025 Sha Tin Racemeeting – Race 6 (567)

LEGENDARY IMPACT – The Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the withdrawal of LEGENDARY IMPACT from the said race. Evidence was taken from Trainer W K Mo, Assistant Trainer K H Lam, Work Riders S L Lee and C K Sze, and Dr B S Forbes, Head of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards established that despite having systems in place to prevent the administration of treatment on raceday, subsequent to LEGENDARY IMPACT working on the morning of 6 April 2025, it was inadvertently treated with Swede Clay, a topical treatment which does not contain any prohibited substances and is the usual treatment for the horse post track work. The Stewards were satisfied that the treatment was an oversight and not intentional conduct. Mr Mo pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 155(29) for causing the application of the raceday treatment in that he did not have proper processes in place to prevent such treatment occurring. Mr Mo was fined the sum of $20,000. A report will be made to the Stables Management in relation to the conduct of the above staff members.
