9 1 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Hewitson On jumping was crowded between SOLAR UP and URBAN TRIUMPH which shifted out. After the event, L Hewitson stated that despite being crowded at the start the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages from a wide barrier.
8 2 SPICY SO SMART (G203) A Hamelin L Ferraris (ACE TALENT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SPICY SO SMART, resulting in SPICY SO SMART losing its rightful running and having to be steadied to avoid ACE TALENT. L Ferraris was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 30 April 2025 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

4 9 PATCH OF WATCH (H476) Z Purton In the early stages got its head up and raced ungenerously when being shifted in to obtain cover behind DAY DAY VICTORY. PATCH OF WATCH then continued to race ungenerously in the middle stages.
1 10 DAY DAY VICTORY (J423) A Badel Was fractious whilst being transported to the course. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. For some distance shortly after the start made contact with DIAMOND SOARS. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 11 ACE TALENT (H046) L Ferraris L Ferraris pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see SPICY SO SMART). Lay out over the final 150 Metres.
7 12 DIAMOND SOARS (G201) E C W Wong (-7) Jumped only fairly and for some distance shortly after the start raced tight between DAY DAY VICTORY and HAPPY TANGO which shifted out slightly. After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that the instructions were to lead but after being crowded at the start DIAMOND SOARS settled further back than what had been intended. 8 1 MIDORI GIANT (K095) H Bowman At declaration time L Hewitson was erroneously declared as the rider of MIDORI GIANT. The Stewards acceded to a request by Trainer M Newnham soon after declarations to replace Jockey Hewitson with Jockey H Bowman as Jockey Bowman had been engaged to ride the horse. For this error, Mr Newnham was fined the sum of $5,000. Bumped on jumping. M Chadwick (PEGASUS GENERAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 750 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in MIDORI GIANT having to be checked to avoid PEGASUS GENERAL. M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 4 May 2025 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. After the event, H Bowman stated that after striking interference near the 750 Metres his mount did not run on in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, may not have run out the 2200 Metres of tonight’s event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

11 3 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) E C W Wong (-7) Raced wide and without cover until the 900 Metres where it commenced a forward move and was able to obtain the lead near the 700 Metres.
7 4 FLOOF (H432) M F Poon Near the 350 Metres blundered. Noted to have sustained a wound to the right front fetlock.
5 5 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) A Badel Approaching the 500 Metres raced tight between FLOOF and MIDORI GIANT which lay in and away from MANAGEMENT FOLKS.
10 6 ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT (J524) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position, similar to the manner in which his mount raced at its most recent start. He said in the early and middle stages ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT raced keenly and refused to settle. He added when CAPITAL LEGEND made a forward move in the Back Straight his mount came under pressure and did not finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 7 ARTHUR'S KINGDOM (E194) Y L Chung (-3) Near the 1700 Metres was briefly crowded by ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT which shifted in when over-racing. Leaving the 600 Metres lay in and made contact with the running rail. After the event, Y L Chung stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the middle stages when CAPITAL LEGEND made a forward move and as a result ARTHUR’S KINGDOM did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

6 9 PEGASUS GENERAL (G189) M Chadwick M Chadwick pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 750 Metres (see MIDORI GIANT). <17/4/2025 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that PEGASUS GENERAL was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, PEGASUS GENERAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He said SMILING EMPEROR raced too keenly throughout the early and middle stages and after being crowded on the Home Turn when racing tight between THESIS and STORMI (C L Chau) which shifted out, his mount was unable to finish the race off thereafter. C L Chau was advised to exercise more care. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

6 2 ROMANTIC SON (J537) H Bentley After the event, H Bentley stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 3 KA YING VICTORY (H287) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start bumped with POWER KOEPP and became unbalanced. After the event, M F Poon stated that his mount jumped awkwardly and then did not travel well during the race. He added, in his opinion, KA YING VICTORY may have been feeling the effects of the manner in which it jumped and he had concerns with its action. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, KA YING VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <17/4/2025 Additional Veterinary Report>KA YING VICTORY, which performed disappointingly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was found to be lame in its right front leg. KA YING VICTORY was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have sustained an injury to its right front tendon. As previously advised, KA YING VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
2 4 POWER KOEPP (E301) A Badel On jumping was bumped and became unbalanced. Approaching the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving to the inside of GIANT LEAP and as a result made contact with DENFIELD when GIANT LEAP shifted in under pressure. Sent for sampling post-race.

Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued to Jockey Bowman and stated that MIGHTY COMMANDER had performed well when ridden in a forward position when it raced in Australia.

After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and when not in a competitive position he eased it down from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of UP WITH CHARM was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, UP WITH CHARM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
