8 1 ANODE (K367) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
1 2 CROSSBORDERPEGASUS (K008) Z Purton When questioned Z Purton stated that after entering the Home Straight when being placed under pressure CROSSBORDERPEGASUS commenced to hang in. He said near the 250 Metres he then pulled his whip through to his right hand after which CROSSBORDERPEGASUS then hung in severely which restricted his ability to fully ride the horse out to the finish of the race as he was concerned it would shift in and interfere with runners positioned to his inside. He added that over the concluding stages when he was satisfied CROSSBORDERPEGASUS was in a winning position he placed further pressure to his left rein to ensure that runners positioned to his inside had comfortable racing room and as a result was unable to ride his mount out to the finish. Trainer J Size stated that he has endeavoured to improve the horse’s racing manners by placing a butterfly bit on CROSSBORDERPEGASUS to prevent it from hanging in. He said, in his view, CROSSBORDERPEGASUS’ racing manners will improve with further racing and by being stepped up in distance for its next race start. After considering the matter the Stewards placed a warning on the racing manners of CROSSBORDERPEGASUS and advised Mr Size that the horse’s racing manners are now placed on notice and should it race in a similar manner in future where it compromises its placing in the field the Stewards may take further action against the horse. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

4 13 ONLY U (J037) A Hamelin Jumped only fairly.
5 14 CIRCUIT MIGHTY (G078) P N Wong (-10) When questioned regarding her riding in the middle stages and the reason she improved to the outside of ACROSS DA UNIVERSE leaving the 700 Metres, Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to hold a forward position. She said after being able to obtain a position with cover behind ACROSS DA UNIVERSE she elected to shift to that runner’s outside leaving the 700 Metres as CIRCUIT MIGHTY has a tendency to race keenly and she wanted to give the horse an unimpeded run in the race. She added that after being obliged to race four wide and without cover from the 700 Metres CIRCUIT MIGHTY responded well to her urgings in the Home Straight. The Stewards advised Apprentice Wong that, in their opinion, she had made an error of judgement by shifting to the outside of ACROSS DA UNIVERSE too soon which resulted in her mount racing unnecessarily wide in the middle stages.

2 4 MAX QUE (J514) H Bowman When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 Metres and if there was an opportunity to follow FIGHT TIME into the event, H Bowman stated that his mount travelled well in a handy position behind and to the inside of FIGHT TIME. He said leaving the 600 Metres he contemplated shifting out to follow FIGHT TIME into the race, however, when he became concerned that FIGHT TIME was under pressure, he elected not to do so as he also would have been required to come back slightly to provide himself with comfortable racing room to follow FIGHT TIME. He added after committing to the inside of FIGHT TIME near the 550 Metres, that runner then unexpectedly improved to the outside of PEARL OF PANG’S which then resulted in MAX QUE having to be checked near the 350 Metres when disappointed for clear running between FIGHT TIME and PEARL OF PANG’S. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of QUICK QUICK WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
