Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. When being shifted to the outside of COOL BLUE after the 200 Metres made contact with PODIUM. For some distance after the 100 Metres raced tight to the outside of COOL BLUE which shifted out. Sent for sampling post-race.

8 10 WOODFIRE CHAMP (H292) K C Leung After the event K C Leung reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He added WOODFIRE CHAMP did not travel well throughout the event which he attributed to the visors being removed from the horse. He said, in his view, WOODFIRE CHAMP would be better suited by being dropped back in distance and the reapplication of visors. Trainer C W Chang confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
1 11 COOL BLUE (H011) M Chadwick Shifted out at the start and was bumped. After the event M Chadwick confirmed that from an inside barrier COOL BLUE was able to hold a more forward position. Sent for sampling post-race.

7 5 HAPPY TANGO (D075) K Teetan Shortly after the start bumped with MODEST GENTLEMAN. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the 100 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER which was taken out by MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni). A Atzeni was severely reprimanded. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight M L Yeung stated that after placing his mount under pressure in the early part of the Home Straight he then observed a run develop between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER after the 200 Metres. He said as a result he then shifted his mount out with a view to taking that run, however, when that run closed after the 150 Metres he was checked when disappointed. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
2 7 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) A Atzeni Bumped shortly after the start. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
5 8 GUSTY FIGHTER (J029) C L Chau (-2) Leaving the 100 Metres was eased to avoid MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni) when that runner continued to shift out. A Atzeni was reprimanded.
11 9 LIFE OF STONE (J374) K De Melo Jumped only fairly. After the event K De Melo expressed concern with his mount’s action in front when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, LIFE OF STONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 10 SPEEDY FORTUNE (H097) E C W Wong (-7) After the event Apprentice E C W Wong advised that after travelling a short distance his saddle shifted back, resulting in SPEEDY FORTUNE bucking and being retired from the event. The gear used by Apprentice Wong was inspected and found to be in good working condition.

He said when CAN’T GO WONG was caught wide in the early stages and when the pace of the event was being run outside of standard time he elected to allow his mount to stride forward to take up a position outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

7 3 SERANGOON (H296) H Bentley Approaching the 2000 Metres was steadied to avoid ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT which shifted out when racing fiercely. After the event H Bentley reported that his intention was to be a little more forward but his mount jumped only fairly and settled further back. He said in the Back Straight he endeavoured to start a forward move behind ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT but when that runner did not continue forward he was obliged to shift to that runner’s inside and was unable to ride his mount forward. He added in the Home Straight SERANGOON finished the race off in a one-paced manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

9 5 OCEAN IMPACT (J502) J Orman After the 700 Metres was bumped by MIDORI GIANT when MIDORI GIANT shifted out to commence a forward move.
11 6 ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT (J524) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that his instructions were to endeavour to find cover. He said throughout the early stages of the event ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT raced fiercely, got its head up and refused to settle. He added ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT continued to race keenly in the middle stages and after attempting to improve his position in the Back Straight ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT did not respond to his riding and commenced to give ground from the 500 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

11 2 SMART TRIO (J538) M L Yeung M L Yeung was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 300 Metres (see ORIENTAL SURPRISE). Trainer C W Chang confirmed that from a wide barrier the instructions were to take up a forward position.
8 3 STORMI (K084) C L Chau (-2) Approaching the 300 Metres was held up when being shifted to the outside of JUBILANT WINNER to obtain clear running.
3 4 MIGHTY COMMANDER (J360) H Bowman Bumped at the start. Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when crowded between SATIRICAL FAN and AMAZING AWARD, both of which shifted ground. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

After the event J Orman stated that he was given the option to ride his mount with cover if another runner showed intent to lead. He said in the early stages when RUN RUN TIMING was ridden forward he elected to allow that runner to cross in accordance with his instructions. Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions issued. 6 8 JUBILANT WINNER (J346) A Hamelin Approaching the 300 Metres shifted in slightly when endeavouring to hold its position to the outside of AMAZING AWARD (K Teetan) which commenced to shift to the outside of MIGHTY COMMANDER. As a result AMAZING AWARD made heavy contact with JUBILANT WINNER, resulting in JUBILANT WINNER becoming badly unbalanced and shifting out. As the Stewards were satisfied that the shift in from JUBILANT WINNER had contributed to the contact between the two runners, K Teetan was severely reprimanded.
12 9 DEAL COMPLETED (J378) H T Mo (-2) Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. After the event H T Mo stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position but when his mount was slow to begin it settled back in the field. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
1 10 AMAZING AWARD (J236) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly. Near the 300 Metres shifted out and made heavy contact with JUBILANT WINNER. Over the final 200 Metres lay in when placed under pressure, resulting in its rider K Teetan changing his whip through to his right hand near the 150 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

10 12 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) B Thompson M L Yeung (SMART TRIO) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 300 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of ORIENTAL SURPRISE, resulting in ORIENTAL SURPRISE having to be checked when crowded between MIGHTY COMMANDER and SMART TRIO. Having regard to the fact that his mount was hanging out and he had initially made an effort to prevent it from shifting ground, he was issued with a severe reprimand.

TNP 2 AURIO (K056) Z Purton Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration as to whether AURIO had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Starter Mr A Speechley, rider Z Purton and Trainer D A Hayes, the Stewards found that AURIO reared simultaneously with the start being effected, resulting in it failing to jump with the field and its rider Z Purton being dislodged. As the Steward were satisfied that such occurrence occurred simultaneously to the start being effected, AURIO was declared a runner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained abrasions to its left hock and left hind fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, AURIO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 3 LOVEISINTHEAIR (J550) H Bowman Leaving the 900 Metres ACE POWER shifted out and away from SUPER CHARIZZARD, resulting in LOVEISINTHEAIR, which was racing keenly, having to be checked. After the event H Bowman stated that following his mount receiving interference leaving the 900 Metres it finished the race off only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. 5 6 ICONICAL (J504) Z Purton A Hamelin (JUMBO FORTUNE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he endeavoured to improve into a run between IVY LEAGUE and ICONICAL where there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in JUMBO FORTUNE then shifting in and crowding the running of ICONICAL, resulting in ICONICAL having to be checked and also ICONICAL shifting in, crowding LUCKY BANNER which was steadied to avoid ICONICAL. A Hamelin was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 31 May 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 5 June 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his neutral race riding record. Over the final 50 Metres was held up for clear running and could not be fully tested.

9 10 CHILL MASTER (J319) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and then became unbalanced when it made contact with LUCKY BANNER which shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned K Teetan stated that making the Home Turn he was held up for clear running behind BUCEPHALAS. He said when that runner shifted away from the rail slightly he endeavoured to improve to its inside, however, near the 300 Metres was checked when disappointed for this run when BUCEPHALAS shifted back in. K Teetan was advised he must ensure that there is sufficient racing room when he is endeavouring to improve into a run. As a result CHILL MASTER did not obtain clear running until near the 250 Metres. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out to the finish when crowded by LUCKY BANNER which shifted out and away from ICONICAL.

He added LUCKY PLANET did not stretch out in the Home Straight and attributed this to the racing surface which was showing some effects of light rain which had fallen during the meeting.
