D Meagher
Other Trainers
Daniel Meagher |
Age: 40 |
Background: Dan Meagher spent 11 years in Singapore when his father John Meagher moved from Melbourne to Kranji in 1999. Assisting his father to many successes, including a Singapore Gold Cup win in 2000, Dan was also travelling foreman for the yard when they sent horses to Dubai. In 2011, John returned to Australia with a record of 577 wins and seven G1s in Singapore to continue training, forming a partnership between himself and his two sons (Dan and Chris) at Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Returning to Singapore in 2016 to train in his own right, Dan Meagher captured his first Group race win in the El Dorado Classic. In 2021, he savoured a first SIN G1 win with Lim’s Lightning in the Lion City Cup before claiming the Raffles Cup just five months later. Meagher capped a memorable stretch with his third SIN G1 win in the same year with Lim’s Lightning in the Singapore Gold Cup. Lim’s Kosciuszko went on to eclipse Lim’s Lightning’s feats, winning a total of seven SIN G1 races in 2022 and 2023. |
