Racing Incident Report

Prior to the race, it was noted that RECOGNITION had a small laceration to its off side hind cannon. The horse was examined at the Start by the Veterinary Surgeon and in his opinion was suitable to race. RECOGNITION was slowly away, then just after the start was crowded between BLUE IMPERIAL and PRETTY BABY. SPECTACULAR WIN left the gates awkwardly. Near the winning post the first time, PLATINUM EXPRESS became unbalanced when awkward on the heels of CHUK WAY (J Egan) which shifted in slightly when barely clear. J Egan was advised he must exercise far more care when shifting ground. Turning out of the Straight the first time, RECOGNITION was momentarily unbalanced when awkward on the heels of BLUE IMPERIAL. Near the 400 Metres, RECOGNITION was steadied and shifted in and just after the 400 Metres was momentarily awkward inside PINE GLORY which was giving ground. When asked about the disappointing performance of BIG TREASURE, S Dye said he found a nice position in the race, BIG TREASURE travelled satisfactorily until about the 800 Metres, then when put under pressure failed to respond and was well beaten shortly afterwards. He was unable to put forward any tangible explanations for the disappointing run. BIG TREASURE and SPECTACULAR TALK were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was noted that BLUE IMPERIAL was lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BLUE IMPERIAL will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subject to an official veterinary examination.
