Racing Incident Report

On leaving the gates, HONEST DRAGON bounded in the air, shifted out, as a consequence of this TUMBLER was checked. HOSSEGOR left the gates awkwardly and threw its head up. Approaching and rounding the first turn, PRISTINE hung out, then approaching and rounding the Home Turn, PRISTINE, which had raced wide in the middle stages, again hung out badly. Mr I W Allan, Trainer of PRISTINE, was told if the horse performs similarly again, action may be taken against it. In the middle stages, TUMBLER hung in. Near the 700 Metres, NIGHT HUNTER got its head on the side, momentarily hung in away from JAMIESON. S Dye (LONGMARK) explained it was expected ASIAN EXPRESS would lead the race and he was instructed if that happened, to take up a position behind ASIAN EXPRESS. He said therefore in the Back Straight he allowed ASIAN EXPRESS to go forward and lead, then at about the 600 Metres shifted to the outside of that horse. He said however as he did this, LONGMARK commenced to race away from ASIAN EXPRESS, hung out and over the concluding stages was very disappointing. He did say in hindsight it may have been better for LONGMARK to have ensured the horse raced in front. LONGMARK was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
