Racing Incident Report
About the 1400 Metres KINDRED SPIRITS and RED SUN bumped when awkward just inside the heels of SPECIAL. In the early and middle stages RED SUN pulled and proved very hard to settle. About the 1200 Metres ASIA RISING was momentarily unbalanced and got its head up. After the 400 Metres, HORSE OF FAME was steadied and shifted out abruptly in an endeavour to find clear running and go forward. Just before the 200 Metres until about 100 Metres out SWEETHEART was held up for running. After the 200 Metres when HAPPY MOMENTUM shifted in slightly to find running and go forward some crowding was caused to CELESTIAL CHIEF. J Egan (SHAXI FORTUNE) explained he had been instructed by the Trainer to ride the horse in about 3rd or 4th position if possible. He said from the outside gate he had drawn it was not possible for him to get in. He got further back than planned and was always obliged to race wide. S Dye (SPECIAL) said that the Trainer had told him to ride the horse where he considered it was comfortable. He said SPECIAL left the gates well, immediately commenced to pull and about the 1400 Metres when ASIA RISING shifted over to be racing outside him he was unable to hold SPECIAL and had little alternative but to let the horse run along into the lead. SPECIAL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
