Racing Incident Report
SUN SHINE RIVER missed the start slightly. In the early stages, THANK HEAVENS proved difficult to settle and raced with its head up. Near the 1300 Metres, due significantly to the pace, general crowding occurred. At this time the main sufferer was LUCKY SIX which was tending to pull and was checked off the heels of HAPPY MOMENTUM which was shifting in. The crowding to LUCKY SIX was extenuated by SMARTLORD which was also pulling and shifted out slightly. Approaching the 800 Metres, LUCKY SIX, which was continuing to prove difficult to settle, was again checked when tightened between SMARTLORD and THANK HEAVENS which was also pulling and was momentarily taken in by CHEERS HONG KONG which was endeavouring to shift over and race beside HAPPY MOMENTUM. Because of all the circumstances involved, no action could be taken. For a short distance near the 400 Metres, HAPPY MOMENTUM was awkward between CHEERS HONG KONG and MASTER FAY. In the early part of the Straight, BEST LIGHT was shifted out to find running and then from just straightening until after the 200 Metres BEST LIGHT had trouble obtaining clear running between ESPRESSO and BRILLIANT WAY. For a greater part of the race, HORSE OF FAME, which had jumped from a difficult gate, was obliged to race wide and without any cover. NORTHERN GOLD BALL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
