Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, CELESTIAL CHIEF kicked out and made contact with a rail with its off hind leg. At the Start CELESTIAL CHIEF was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, it was noted that MONARDS had lost its near side front plate. The horse was re-plated, trotted up and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion MONARDS was suitable to race. MY CHIEF jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. In the early stages, COLOURFUL ERA, which had a tendency to be pulling, got its head up and shifted in away from SUPER MOLLY. Before the declaration of correct weight, A Marcus (MONARDS) sought permission to view the official video films as he considered there may have been grounds to object against DOLBRIDGE being declared the winner. After viewing the films, however, A Marcus was of the opinion it would have been inappropriate on this occasion to proceed with the formal objection. Accordingly Weighed-In was semaphored. When questioned, S Due (SUPER MOLLY) said from a wide draw it was hoped to try and ride the horse somewhere about midfield with cover. He said SUPER MOLLY left the gates well, then shifted over to be in a position racing outside COLOURFUL ERA. He said however this position was towards the rear of the field and would have required him to be travelling four wide. He said the pattern of racing tonight suggested that horses close to the rail were winning and he made the decision turning out of the Straight the first time to steady SUPER MOLLY, shift across behind other runners and take up a position on the rail but at the rear. He said SUPER MOLLY travelled in patches throughout the race and whilst he is aware SUPER MOLLY is a Happy Valley winner, on that occasion the going was good to firm and in his opinion at this stage of its racing career SUPER MOLLY is not comfortable racing at Happy Valley. SUPER MOLLY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
