Racing Incident Report

Mr T P Wong, Trainer of NORTHERN GOLD BALL, was today advised before the horse will be allowed to race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in two successive official barrier trials. GOOD POWER was withdrawn on 12.10.01 on veterinary grounds (sore near fore suspensory ligament). Before racing again, GOOD POWER will have to undergo an official veterinary examination. PEAK POWER left the gates very awkwardly, bumped the inside of its stall, as a consequence of this S Dye was almost dislodged. TRILLION WIN, which was standing with its head turned slightly to the off side, was slowly away. TRILLION WIN was then ridden along to make ground, commenced to pull, then for some time proved very difficult to settle. Near the 1400 Metres, GOOD RECORD was severely checked when crowded between the hindquarters of TRIUMPHANT FEELING and BULL'S EYE (W M Lai) which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly away from ZIETENGO BOY. During the inquiry, it was established that BULL'S EYE from the outside gate had steadied behind runners then improved quickly to be inside ZIETENGO BOY and it was apparent the horse was proving difficult to steady. It was decided no direct action would be taken, but W M Lai was reprimanded and told he should exercise far more care than this in future and must show a greater regard for his fellow riders. About the 1400 Metres, MONARDS was steadied when crowded for room between MY HEART which shifted out slightly and IRONIC COMMANDER which shifted in slightly. Near the 400 Metres, BULL'S EYE was steadied when momentarily crowded inside the hindquarters of TRIUMPHANT FEELING. For some distance in the Straight, MONARDS, which was travelling well and looking to close off strongly, was held up behind IRONIC COMMANDER and inside the heels of DR MORE. MONARDS was not able to obtain running until after the 200 Metres. Over the last 200 Metres, TRIUMPHANT FEELING was held up behind LITIGADO. As a consequence of this, TRIUMPHANT FEELING was not ridden out to the line. Approaching the wining post, AUCASH shifted out, this caused some inconvenience to LITIGADO which was not ridden out to the finish. DR MORE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
