Racing Incident Report

Just as the gates opened, MAGIC WIN put its head down, then came from the gates very awkwardly, as a consequence of this lost a lot of ground and got well back in the early stages. MELROSE STAR jumped very awkwardly with its head up, shifted in and as a consequence of this K S Yu was unbalanced in the saddle for some time. On leaving the gates, DANELAW threw its head up, then knuckled. SMILEY WIN was slowly away. About the 1200 Metres, COMFORT (D Whyte) shifted out from behind CLASSIC CHOICE which was being steadied, racing ungenerously and throwing its head about. As a consequence of this, COMFORT took up a position behind WINNING MASCOT and HANDSOME MAN was obliged to race three wide. D Whyte was told the Stewards expect competitive race riding from people such as himself, but he must remember there is a limit to which he can take it. Near the 600 Metres, WINNING SUPREME, which was racing ungenerously, threw its head about when awkward just inside the hindquarters of STAR OF WAH YAN which was hanging in. About the 200 Metres, E Legrix (CLEAR MASTER) had the whip knocked from his hand by E Saint-Martin (CLASSIC CHOICE). After the 200 Metres, STAR OF WAH YAN continued to hang in, shifted ground and brushed SMILEY WIN which in turn shifted ground and made contact with MELROSE STAR. In the run to the line, MAGIC WIN shifted out. Throughout the race, STAR OF WAH YAN hung in rather badly. HANDSOME MAN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
