Racing Incident Report
On jumping, FULL THROTTLE threw its head about, then in the Straight hung out badly. In the early stages, WATCH ME WIN pulled hard and was very difficult to settle. F Coetzee (FRUITFUL TRIP) said on leaving the gates he bumped his left knee and was at a somewhat disadvantage, particularly in the early stages. W M Lai (FRENCH FRY) said he had been instructed if possible to ride the horse with cover. He said however he was unable to find any cover, FRENCH FRY pulled and he thought in the circumstances it was in the best interests of the horse to let it run along and go to the front. A Marcus (DRAGON FORTUNE) said he had ridden the horse numerous times before, it is one-paced and the intention tonight was to lead. He did say in the past when challenged in front, DRAGON FORTUNE showed some ability to fight back, but tonight near the 1000 Metres started to give ground badly and he was concerned there was something wrong with DRAGON FORTUNE. DRAGON FORTUNE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said DRAGON FORTUNE was suffering from a heart irregularity. Before the horse can race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination, such examination to include the results of an ECG examination.
