Racing Incident Report

Mr D Shum, assistant trainer to Mr I W Allan, trainer of VISORHILL, reported that whilst the horse was being schooled in the Parade Ring yesterday afternoon, it kicked out and made contact with a rail, momentarily had its right hind leg caught on the rail. The Veterinary Surgeon said the horse was trotted up and no significant abnormalities were detected. The horse was again examined today and after the necessary consultations it was decided VISORHILL was suitable to race. PEAK POWER jumped awkwardly, then just after the start was further inconvenienced when tightened for room between SUNSEEN which shifted out and DIAMOND DANCER. GOOD RECORD was slowly away. About the 800 Metres, DR MORE was steadied when crowded by HOUSEMASTER which was momentarily taken in by VISORHILL. Just after the 400 Metres, SUNSEEN and SUPER GOAL STRIKER came together. Near the 300 Metres, DIAMOND DANCER, which was starting to close off strongly, was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MONARDS which was beginning to give ground. When questioned, S Dye (DR MORE) said in the Straight he initially hoped to follow DASHING WINNER through, realised he was not going to be able to do so, then put himself into a position, hoping a run would come in between MAGIC HANDS and SUPER GOAL STRIKER which was being ridden with the whip in the right hand. He did anticipate SUPER GOAL STRIKER would shift out which it did slightly, but also MAGIC HANDS shifted out and as a consequence of this he was disappointed for running and had to shift abruptly to the outside of SUPER GOAL STRIKER to go forward. S Dye conceded in hindsight it would have been better for him to have waited as a run did present itself on the inside of MAGIC HANDS, however, at the time he felt the best option was to try and improve on the inside of SUPER GOAL STRIKER. He concluded by saying at the time he was disappointed for running, DR MORE was travelling strongly, but even had he obtained the run inside MAGIC HANDS whilst DR MORE would have finished a lot closer, he was of the view the horse would not have won the race. NORTHERN GOLD BALL, HOUSEMASTER and DASHING WINNER were sent for sampling.
