Racing Incident Report

ASALI began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped BRAVE KNIGHT which in turn shifted ground and bumped INDUBITABLY BLISS. From the outside gate, ROUND THE WORLD was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but near the rear, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. Making the Home Turn, REWARD hung out. On straightening, ROUND THE WORLD and SONGS OF PRAISE bumped. Prior to the winning post, SONGS OF PRAISE was momentarily tightened for room between ASALI and ROUND THE WORLD and because of this was not ridden out right to the post. G Mossé (SONGS OF PRAISE) said the intention had been to either lead or race behind the leaders. He said SONGS OF PRAISE began satisfactorily, however, despite his riding in the early stages failed to muster speed and got much further back than was intended. W Woods (SILVERBIRD) explained after the 600 Metres he shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running on the outside of ASALI and inside ABLE WIN. He said as he did this REWARD, which had been racing to his inside, commenced to hang out and carried ASALI wider which meant he had to shift more ground than he wished. He said shortly after straightening there was a run available for him between ASALI and ABLE WIN, however, SILVERBIRD was not going well enough to improve into this run and after this SILVERBIRD kept on only one-paced in the run to the line. GOLD FIELD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, GOLD FIELD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. ABLE WIN, REWARD and INDUBITABLY BLISS were sent for sampling.
