Racing Incident Report

IDOL and DASHING CHAMPION were slow to begin. Near the 1600 Metres, SILENT PARTNER, which was proving difficult to settle, and MAGIC HANDS were awkwardly placed inside the heels of FLYING BISHOP which was racing tight inside JAZZ BEAT. A Marcus (CELEBRATION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MONARDS and DASHING CHAMPION, causing those horses to be severely crowded for room, resulting in MONARDS losing its rightful running and being severely checked. JAZZ BEAT, which was following MONARDS, was hampered in consequence. A Marcus was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 4 December 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 22 November 2003. After this incident, MONARDS raced three wide and without cover for the remainder of the race and making the turn after the 600 Metres hung out. At the 400 Metres, FLYING BISHOP was steadied when crowded for room between SILENT PARTNER and MONARDS, both of which shifted a little ground. MONARDS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, MONARDS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings, however, he did note the horse had lost its left front plate. SPLENDID PATROL and MAGIC HANDS were sent for sampling.
