Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, JUST A MARTIAN became fractious, reared and lost its footing behind. Acting on the advice from the Veterinary Surgeon that JUST A MARTIAN was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, JUST A MARTIAN will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When JUST A MARTIAN reared over in the stalls, it had kicked SILVERBIRD which was drawn to its outside. SILVERBIRD was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. SILVERBIRD was slow to begin. RESOURCEFUL PRINCE began awkwardly and lost ground. From a gate towards the outside, ROYAL ARMY was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to race close to the rail but at the rear. In the middle stages, SILVERBIRD proved difficult to settle. Also in the middle stages, BARAKA was inclined to hang out. Just prior to straightening, SILVERBIRD was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of INSIDE MAIL. Approaching the 200 Metres, DESERT STORM (M Zahra) was carried wider by ROYAL ARMY. M Zahra explained after the 200 Metres he shifted his mount to the inside of PARADIS to prevent being carried wider still. Throughout the race, SMART CHIEF raced wide and without cover. NATIVE LANGUAGE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of NATIVE LANGUAGE after the race did not show any significant findings. INSIDE MAIL and CHAMP DRAGON were sent for sampling.
