Racing Incident Report

JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE began awkwardly and near the 1100 Metres became unbalanced. PARADIS was slow to begin. In the early stages, KING PALM proved difficult to settle. At the 600 Metres, PORTER RICKS, which was hanging out, was checked away from the heels of CHEERFUL BOY. Prior to straightening, ZERO IN and KOWLOON STAR bumped. Shortly after straightening, BUDDIES POWER and CHEERFUL BOY bumped. In the Straight, FLASH HARRY hung in. When questioned, J Holder (CHEERFUL BOY) explained after the 800 Metres he was racing on the outside of DETERMINATION and inside the heels of BUDDIES POWER which at that time was shifting in slightly, he therefore elected to come back a fraction to ensure that CHEERFUL BOY travelled well in the run as in his opinion to have maintained his position he would have had to have ridden his mount along and this was not the best option as he believed he might have met with interference. J Holder was told his explanation would be recorded. A Delpech (FLASH HARRY) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position. He said FLASH HARRY began fairly, KOWLOON STAR which had drawn to his outside immediately showed superior speed and he was unable to go forward with that horse. He said consequently FLASH HARRY was obliged to travel wide in front of midfield without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. Mr D Cruz, the trainer of FLASH HARRY, confirmed the riding instructions issued to A Delpech and said in his opinion the race would be run at a solid pace and therefore he hoped from an awkward barrier FLASH HARRY would be able to find a nice position with cover. KOWLOON STAR and BUDDIES POWER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, it was reported KOWLOON STAR had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary examination of BUDDIES POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. IN THE BANK and DETERMINATION were sent for sampling.
