Racing Incident Report

On jumping, MASTER GIGOLO blundered. Shortly after the start, CLASSA WIN was checked when crowded for room between VICTORY MARBLE and GRAND FIGHTER, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1000 Metres, ARROGANCE was steadied away from the heels of ASSET PLAY. Making the first turn and along the Back Straight, FREEBIRD hung out, approaching the turn at the 700 Metres hung in and when making this turn then again hung out. FREEBIRD was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, FREEBIRD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was moderately distressed. The performance of FREEBIRD, which finished distanced, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FREEBIRD will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. T Mundry (TEMMOKU) was advised whilst the Stewards accepted his riding over the concluding stages did not affect the finishing position of the horse, he nonetheless should continue to ride his mount out at least hands and heels to the line where it is possible. C Williams (DEVON ELITE) explained making the Home Turn the horse commenced to hang out badly and therefore he eased it down in the Home Straight. Before being allowed to race again, DEVON ELITE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TEMMOKU, WINNING SUNSHINE and DEVON ELITE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TEMMOKU, WINNING SUNSHINE and DEVON ELITE after the race did not show any significant findings. MASTER GIGOLO and MILLENNIUM SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
