Racing Incident Report

After arriving in the saddling stalls, it was noted TROPHY had shifted its right front plate. This plate was re-set. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it was suitable to race. After being boxed, NOBLE CRUSADER became fractious and got its head down underneath the front gate of its stall. Then when the gates opened, NOBLE CRUSADER sprawled, became unbalanced and lost a significant amount of ground. NOBLE CRUSADER, which tailed out, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, NOBLE CRUSADER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of NOBLE CRUSADER, including its behaviour in the barrier, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CRUSADER will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DRAGON AND GOLD was slow to begin. Near the 1100 Metres, DRAGON AND GOLD was checked when crowded for room inside HARVEY MUDD (Apprentice K W Tsui) which shifted in when not clear. Having considered Apprentice Tsui's relative inexperience, he was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise more care. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, HAPI HAPI and HARVEY MUDD were steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside ABLE EAGLE. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, DRAGON AND GOLD became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of AMO. After the 800 Meters, MANIFEST was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY. Approaching and passing the 700 Metres, AMO hung out and was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY GALLOPER. Prior to straightening, HAPI HAPI became unbalanced after bumping with HIP HIP HOORAY. Over the final 200 Metres, LUCKY GALLOPER hung out. Over the concluding stages, HAPI HAPI was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HARVEY MUDD. Because of this, HAPI HAPI was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Throughout the race, MAJOR BEE travelled wide, hung out in the middle stages and in the Straight was eased down. MAJOR BEE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MAJOR BEE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood and mucus in the horse's trachea. The performance of MAJOR BEE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAJOR BEE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY and AMAZING ONE were sent for sampling.
