Racing Incident Report

PAY-DAY began awkwardly and bounded in the air. ABLE MARS bounded in the air and lost ground at the start. From a wide gate, SHENANEGAN was steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners to a position close to the rail with cover. Near the 1200 Metres, MONZA KING was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SHENANEGAN. Shortly after straightening, MYSTIC FORCE became unbalanced when crowded for room between STOIC and RISING WIN which drifted in. For some distance after straightening, SHENANEGAN was held up and unable to improve when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OPTIC CHIEF. Near the 200 Metres, MONZA KING was steadied and shifted to the outside of ABLE MARS which shifted in when hanging. Over the concluding stages, MR BEAUTIFUL hung in. Throughout the race, ON THE TEE raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. J Spencer (MONZA KING) said over the concluding stages he did not ride his mount out as he was of the opinion he would receive crowding between OPTIC CHIEF which when giving ground was drifting in and ABLE MARS which was shifting towards the outside of the heels of BROWN BEAUTY into clear running. S Elliott (RISING WIN) said he had been advised prior to the race that the horse usually travels in a rearward position. He said RISING WIN from the outside barrier began well, immediately travelled into the bridle and he felt it would be difficult to restrain the horse to a rearward position, he therefore allowed RISING WIN to carry on forward and race outside the lead. MYSTIC FORCE and BARRACUDA were sent for sampling.
