Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, WEALTHY TREASURE became fractious and reared on several occasions. WEALTHY TREASURE was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. HIMALAYA began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. Shortly after the start, LUCKY GOOD DAY was checked when crowded for room between BULL'S EYE and PACKING ANGEL which on jumping shifted out. Also shortly after the start, NATIVE DREAM was steadied when crowded for room between CYPRESS HILL and DYNAMIC FUN which shifted in away from LUCKY SIXER. In the early stages, LUCKY GOOD DAY proved difficult to settle and raced close to the heels of RED POWER. Making the first turn, FLORAL DYNAMITE, which had drawn the outside gate, was wide and without cover and after the 1100 Metres was allowed to stride forward and join the lead. Near the 500 Metres, BULL'S EYE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PACKING ANGEL. Shortly after straightening, FLORAL DYNAMITE and HEALTHY WEALTHY raced tight for some distance due to HEALTHY WEALTHY drifting out. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 100 Metres, HIMALAYA, which had commenced to close the race off strongly, was steadied when unable to improve inside DYNAMIC FUN which when giving ground shifted in away from RED POWER. E Saint-Martin (LUCKY SIXER) said he had been instructed to ride the horse which was dropping back in distance tonight in a good position but with cover if possible. He said whilst the horse in its recent starts has either led or raced behind the lead, it was felt from a wide barrier the horse would be best suited ridden with some cover. He said LUCKY SIXER began fairly, he allowed DYNAMIC FUN to go forward and then shifted across to race outside PACKING ANGEL in a three wide position in about midfield. He said when FLORAL DYNAMITE pressed on to join the lead after the 1100 Metres he was then left racing three wide and without cover. He said when travelling in this position LUCKY SIXER did not really feel comfortable and then making the turn after the 600 Metres hung out when commencing to give ground. He said on straightening he felt the horse might have bled because of the manner in which it was travelling. He said as a result of this in the Straight he did not ride the horse out in his usual manner. LUCKY SIXER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LUCKY SIXER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of LUCKY SIXER was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, LUCKY SIXER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Mossé (NATIVE DREAM), which was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight, said at no stage was the horse comfortable on the track. He said NATIVE DREAM made the turns awkwardly and was reluctant to stretch out. C Williams (WEALTHY TREASURE) said after being fractious in its stall the horse began well and was able to obtain a forward position as anticipated. He said after the 1000 Metres it appeared FLORAL DYNAMITE was endeavouring to shift to the fence behind DYNAMIC FUN, he therefore shifted to the outside of that horse to be in a position to go forward and race outside the leader. He said however FLORAL DYNAMITE was not able to shift to the fence because it was not clear of other runners and as a consequence WEALTHY TREASURE was left racing three wide. He said along the Back Straight WEALTHY TREASURE was inclined to shift out and appeared somewhat unusual in its action. He said making the turn at the 600 Metres WEALTHY TREASURE changed legs and immediately shifted out away from other runners and he became concerned with the horse's action, he therefore did not ride the horse out. WEALTHY TREASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WEALTHY TREASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. Before being permitted to race again, WEALTHY TREASURE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RED POWER, FLORAL DYNAMITE and LUCKY GOOD DAY were sent for sampling.
