Racing Incident Report

ABLE MARS, FREE WAY and HENNESSY DAYS were slow to begin. On jumping, MAGNIFICENT HORSE was bumped by SHINING LIGHT which shifted in. At the 800 Metres, ABLE MARS became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of HARVEST. Shortly after straightening, SHINING LIGHT was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between PRO JOY and MAGNIFICENT HORSE which at this time shifted to the outside of MIRACULOUS to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, PRO JOY, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of SHINING LIGHT which was carried out slightly by HARVEST which was having difficulty obtaining clear running. BODACIOUS raced wide and without cover throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance of ALL OUR WAY, Mr C S Shum, trainer of the horse, said its worst performances in recent times have been on the All Weather Track which he believes does not suit the horse. He said two starts prior to today ALL OUR WAY ran a creditable race on the turf when beaten less than five lengths. He said since ALL OUR WAY last raced, it has been working in blinkers and has shown significant improvement and in his opinion today's improved performance was due to the horse returning to the turf and racing in blinkers. The explanation submitted by Mr Shum was accepted. ABLE MARS, ALL OUR WAY and MAGNIFICENT HORSE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported BODACIOUS had returned bleeding from the mouth.
