Racing Incident Report

DAY OR NIGHT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped FIRST AMONG EQUALS. SANBENITO was slow to begin. On jumping, BULLISH STAR and DOWN TOWN were crowded for room between RICE FIELD which got its head on the side and shifted out away from PALETTE NATURAL and FLORAL PEGASUS which after blundering at the start shifted in. Near the 900 Metres, GLOBAL WIN, which was hanging out, was awkwardly placed inside ABLE KNIGHT which at this time shifted in away from BULLISH STAR. After this, GLOBAL WIN continued to hang out, shifted out and made contact with ALL'S WELL on two occasions. GLOBAL WIN then hung out badly making the turn at the 800 Metres, shifted away from the rail and was checked to avoid the heels of ALL'S WELL. As a result of this, inconvenience was caused to RICE FIELD and PALETTE NATURAL which were carried wider and also STRONG SUN which was shifted out away from the heels of RICE FIELD, causing SANBENITO to be carried wider. DAY OR NIGHT was in turn checked to avoid the heels of STRONG SUN. The performance of GLOBAL WIN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL WIN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the 600 Metres, TIGER RIDGE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GLOBAL WIN. Near the 300 Metres, ALL'S WELL, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted to the outside of GOLD STRIKER to go forward. At the 200 Metres, ABLE KNIGHT, which had been held up and unable to obtain clear running, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between DOWN TOWN and BULLISH STAR. F Coetzee (FLORAL PEGASUS) said the horse began awkwardly, he then had to make some use of the horse to cross to lead when DOWN TOWN went forward underneath him in the early stages. He said after reaching the fence near the 800 Metres, FLORAL PEGASUS only momentarily relaxed and in his opinion did not travel as comfortably as it had in the past. FLORAL PEGASUS, ALL'S WELL and GOLD STRIKER were sent for sampling.
