Racing Incident Report

LASER POWER was slow to begin, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ARMONDO. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SHINING DAY failed to muster speed and got well back. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, VISIONNAIRE was steadied when awkwardly placed between SHINING DAY and SUNRISE RAINBOW which was hanging in away from FIGHTING MASCOT. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DORDENMA was steadied away from the heels of ARMONDO which shifted in when barely clear. An inquiry into the reason for ARMONDO being checked after passing the winning post on the first occasion was adjourned until the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 30 April 2006. When ARMONDO checked, crowding was caused on its inside to CAPE PRINCE. Then shortly afterwards, DORDENMA and LASER POWER, which were racing behind, were carried wider when ARMONDO shifted out. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SHINING DAY became unbalanced. Just prior to the winning post, VISIONNAIRE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ABERDEEN which shifted in. Because of this, VISIONNAIRE was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. G Mossé (LUCKY DRAGON) said he had been instructed to lead on the horse from its wide barrier. He said these instructions were consistent with those issued when he rode LUCKY DRAGON last start over the same course and distance. He said however on that occasion LUCKY DRAGON did not begin cleanly and then passing the winning post on the first occasion was crowded for room and consequently got further back than intended. SUNRISE RAINBOW was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUNRISE RAINBOW after the race did not show any significant findings. CAPE PRINCE, DORDENMA and ABERDEEN were sent for sampling.
