Racing Incident Report

RACING SPIRIT, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 28.4.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (laceration wound on tongue). SALUT BEAUTE was withdrawn on 29.4.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Second Standby Declared Starter SOUND OF SILENCE (M W Leung). Before being allowed to race again, RACING SPIRIT and SALUT BEAUTE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following a report from Mr Y O Wong, trainer of KING PALM, that the horse had slight swelling over the right knee, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. PO ON GEM was slow to begin, then on jumping made contact with the hindquarters of HAPPY MASTER and because of this lost further ground. COP HILL LAD began awkwardly and as a result was close to the heels of MASTER YING. RAINBOW EXPRESS was slow to muster speed in the early stages. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, BOREAS proved difficult to settle and was steadied when close to the heels of COP HILL LAD. PO ON GEM made the Home Turn awkwardly, after straightening was shifted to the inside of the heels of KING PALM, then hung in and after the 200 Metres shifted in abruptly when being taken away from the heels of BOREAS while closing the race off strongly. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, RAINBOW EXPRESS had some difficulty improving into a narrow run on the inside of SUPERSONIC which at this time was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, HAPPY MASTER was steadied away from the heels of SOUND OF SILENCE which shifted in when barely clear. After the 200 Metres, KING PALM, which had been carried out slightly by PRIME MOVER as that horse was giving ground, struck the heels of BULLET TRAIN and blundered as a result of BULLET TRAIN being carried in slightly by CROWNED GEM which in the Straight hung in. No action was taken. At the 100 Metres, BOREAS, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied away from the heels of OKEYDOKEY. Throughout the race, CROWNED GEM travelled wide and without cover. RAINBOW EXPRESS, WINE WIN and CROWNED GEM were sent for sampling.
