Racing Incident Report

ABLE ONE was withdrawn on 26.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind foot). Before being allowed to race again, ABLE ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, FANTUZZI became fractious, reared and dislodged Apprentice C W Wong. FANTUZZI continued to be fractious and sat down behind. FANTUZZI was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse appeared uncoordinated behind and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, FANTUZZI was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, FANTUZZI will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PALETTE NATURAL shifted in at the start and bumped FIRST AMONG EQUALS which in turn shifted in and bumped FIVE GRAINS. Near the 1500 Metres, HONEY MONEY shifted out, resulting in VICTORY STYLE being carried wider. Approaching the 800 Metres, WIND WINNER raced tight inside GOLDEN SUN which lay in at this time. Passing the 400 Metres, FIVE GRAINS was momentarily steadied away from the heels of WIND WINNER which shifted out. Passing the 200 Metres, FIVE GRAINS was steadied and shifted to the outside of WIND WINNER to continue going forward. Near the 50 Metres, VICTORY STYLE shifted out away from DANEHILL EXPRESS. Over the concluding stages, DANEHILL EXPRESS shifted out abruptly under pressure. When questioned, B Prebble (POCKET MONEY) said he was instructed to ensure his mount raced comfortably and it was anticipated he was to obtain a position behind the leaders. He said accordingly he rode his mount along out of the barriers to obtain a forward position, but then did not ride his mount along any further. He said POCKET MONEY was travelling comfortably and he did not believe the early sections of the race were being run at a fast tempo, he therefore allowed POCKET MONEY to remain racing to the inside of SELF FLIT. He said had SELF FLIT gone forward of him, he would have taken a sit behind that horse, however, when it did not press on, he remained racing inside that horse and in the lead. B Prebble's explanation was reported. When questioned regarding the performance of HONEY MONEY, Apprentice C K Tong said he had intended to lead on the horse, however, HONEY MONEY failed to show sufficient speed and he therefore elected to shift in to a position to be racing behind the leaders. He added he commenced to ride his mount along from the 400 Metres and whilst it initially responded to his riding, HONEY MONEY a short distance later became unbalanced in its action and then failed to run on. HONEY MONEY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HONEY MONEY after the race did not show any significant findings. LOTZATOW, DANEHILL EXPRESS and VICTORY STYLE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported SELF FLIT had lost its left front plate.
