Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, PILLOW KING bounded in the air and lost ground. On jumping, TRIUMPH and BUDDIES POWER bumped. For some distance after passing the winning post on the first occasion, EVER KING raced tight inside DRAGON STRIDE. In the early stages, BUDDIES POWER raced wide and without cover and near the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward into the lead. After the 800 Metres, ALWAYS ZIETEN was steadied away from the heels of BUDDIES POWER which shifted in. Apprentice C W Wong (TRIUMPH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not properly clear of MUTUAL GAIN, causing that horse to be carried in and in turn caused crowding on its inside to ARROGANCE which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. EVER KING, which was following, was checked severely and G-ONE LEADING and SIXTY SECONDS, which were also following, were hampered. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 5 October 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 24 September 2006. ARROGANCE, DRAGON STRIDE and MUTUAL GAIN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DRAGON STRIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea and it had lost its right hind plate. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON STRIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ARROGANCE and MUTUAL GAIN after the race did not show any significant findings. G-ONE LEADING, PRESENT TREASURE and SIXTY SECONDS were sent for sampling.
