Racing Incident Report

FORTUNE GOLD began awkwardly, then despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed. FORTUNE GOLD then travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race. ESPOIR D'OR began awkwardly, then shifted out, hampering RENA'S WUNDERBAR. Near the 1700 Metres, NOBLE BOSS dipped. Approaching the 1600 Metres, CHALLENGER became unbalanced when being steadied off the heels of NATURAL ECHO. Passing the 800 Metres, NOBLE BOSS was briefly crowded for room inside NEW TAMAR. Approaching the 600 Metres, ACCOLADE shifted out slightly, resulting in FLYING PROFILE and FORTUNE GOLD bumping. Approaching the 200 Metres, NATURAL ECHO was steadied away from the heels of CHALLENGER (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted to the outside of FLYING PROFILE to continue improving its position. Apprentice Yeung was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. The performance of NOBLE BOSS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE BOSS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NATURAL ECHO, D Whyte said prior to the race he had expected to be in a midfield position, however, NATURAL ECHO did not show any pace in the early and middle stages and came under pressure passing the 700 Metres. He added despite his riding along NATURAL ECHO did not respond and although he met with some interference approaching the 200 Metres, this did not have a bearing on the horse's performance. D Whyte said in his opinion NATURAL ECHO performed disappointedly today. When questioned, S Dye (CHEERFUL HAPPINESS) said as it did at its most recent start when successful the horse took some time to muster speed but was able to go forward and race outside the leader, DURABLE. He said although CHEERFUL HAPPINESS raced a little keener than it did last start, he believed the horse was disappointing in that it failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the Straight. NATURAL ECHO and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NATURAL ECHO and CHEERFUL HAPPINESS after the race did not show any significant findings. DURABLE and MAIN ATTRACTION were sent for sampling.
