Racing Incident Report
BOBO WIN was withdrawn on 22.12.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GREAT GUY. Before being allowed to race again, BOBO WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GO JOHNNY GO was slow to begin. On jumping, RICE FIELD was crowded for room between GOLD STRIKER and GREAT GUY. At the 700 Metres, NOBLE CRUSADER became unbalanced and lost ground when awkwardly placed between JIANG JUN which shifted out and ULTRA FANTASY which shifted in slightly. GOLD STRIKER and RICE FIELD, which were following, were checked in consequence. Near the 600 Metres, NOBLE CRUSADER again became unbalanced. Making the Home Turn, GOLD STRIKER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NOBLE CRUSADER which was giving ground. Approaching the 300 Metres, IMPERIAL APPLAUSE (S K Sit), which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of RICE FIELD. This caused inconvenience to YELLOW DIAMOND and GOLD STRIKER. S K Sit was advised to exercise care. For the majority of the Home Straight, GO JOHNNY GO had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not properly tested. Over the concluding stages, ULTRA FANTASY hung in. F Coetzee (GOLD STRIKER) said because of the early tempo of the race the horse raced further back than is usual. He said at the 700 Metres he checked to avoid the heels of NOBLE CRUSADER. He said that horse was then hard ridden to maintain its position and did not improve as he had hoped. He said in the Straight GOLD STRIKER made ground in the run to the line despite being hampered by YELLOW DIAMOND near the 300 Metres. When questioned regarding the performance of YELLOW DIAMOND, D Whyte said from the wide barrier in what was a quickly run race he ended up slightly back than was anticipated. He said YELLOW DIAMOND travelled comfortably, however, received the backwash of interference at the 700 Metres and lost further ground. He said in the early part of the Straight YELLOW DIAMOND commenced to run on, however, when IMPERIAL APPLAUSE shifted out abruptly on his inside near the 300 Metres, YELLOW DIAMOND over-reacted, shifted out and bumped GOLD STRIKER. He said after this YELLOW DIAMOND continued to hang out for the remainder of the race, however, did make some ground. NOBLE CRUSADER and YELLOW DIAMOND were sent for an official veterinary inspection. GOLD STRIKER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, YELLOW DIAMOND was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE CRUSADER and GOLD STRIKER after the race did not show any significant findings. IMPERIAL APPLAUSE and FIFTY FIFTY were sent for sampling.
