Racing Incident Report

WALKONTHEWILDSIDE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. SOUTH DAKOTA was slow to begin. ABOVE ALL bounded in the air at the start and then from the outside barrier was taken back in the early stages. GALLANT CHAMPION was slow to muster speed. Near the 1200 Metres, VENI VEDI VICI was steadied when crowded for room inside GRAND CRU (K T Yeung) which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FLORAL EL CUENTO. K T Yeung was advised to exercise greater care. GALLANT CHAMPION, which was proving difficult to settle, and GREAT LAND'S STAR, which was following, were hampered in consequence. For some distance after the 400 Metres, VENI VEDI VICI had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, FLORAL EL CUENTO hung out. Throughout the race, SUMMERVILLE POWER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of TAN TAT BABY, D Whyte explained from a wide barrier he took his mount to a position in midfield to ensure it had cover. He said TAN TAT BABY travelled comfortably in the run, however, when placed under pressure on straightening did not respond to his riding. He was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. TAN TAT BABY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of TAN TAT BABY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TAN TAT BABY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TAN TAT BABY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUMMERVILLE POWER and WALKONTHEWILDSIDE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUMMERVILLE POWER and WALKONTHEWILDSIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. REGENCY DRAGON and RICE FIELD were sent for sampling.
