Racing Incident Report

WINNING AHEAD was withdrawn on 30.4.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MONTY (Apprentice K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, WINNING AHEAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AIPODER IMAGE bounded in the air at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. In the middle stages, NOT QUITE PERFECT hung in. Near the 300 Metres, ACTIVE VALOUR got its head on the side and commenced to hang in. Throughout the race, GENERAL POWER travelled wide and without cover. Apprentice M L Yeung (HOT SUN) said in the early stages his mount over-raced and was proving difficult for him to control. He said near the 1000 Metres he noticed the horse had its tongue over the bit. He added in the middle stages HOT SUN was inclined to hang out and because of this he was not able to maintain a position on the rail. GENERAL POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GENERAL POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. WILD ACE and ACCELERATOR were sent for sampling. <4/5/2009 Additional Veterinary Reports > GENERAL POWER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GENERAL POWER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
