Racing Incident Report

Apprentice T H So (DIAMOND SUPREME) was fined $2,000 for negligently weighing out with two girths. This required the saddle used by Apprentice So being returned from the Parade Ring and Apprentice So having to be re-weighed. DA JUDGE was very fractious in the Parade Ring, resulting in its rider, W Pike, being dislodged. Mr D E Ferraris, trainer of DA JUDGE, undertook to school the horse in the Parade Ring prior to its next race start. DIAMOND SUPREME began very awkwardly and lost ground. BOUNCER was slow to begin. Near the 850 Metres, DA JUDGE was momentarily crowded for room between EVER BEAUTY which shifted in and GUNNER MAC which was taken out by DIAMOND KNIGHT. DIAMOND KNIGHT proved difficult to settle in the middle stages and near the 600 Metres got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied away from the heels of NOBLE CHOICE. Apprentice M L Yeung (NOBLE CHOICE) dropped his whip near the 200 Metres. Also near the 200 Metres, STEP TO WIN (C W Wong) which was tiring, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of EVER BEAUTY which shifted out slightly. After this, STEP TO WIN drifted in slightly, resulting in GUNNER MAC being checked when crowded for room between that horse and TOP NEWS which became unbalanced and in turn shifted in and bumped GLENEALY STAR. C W Wong was advised that whilst it was accepted STEP TO WIN was giving ground at this stage, he should make every endeavour to keep his mounts in a straight course. Apprentice T H So was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out near the 150 Metres when insufficiently clear of NEW GLORY, resulting in that horse having to be steadied away from the heels of DIAMOND SUPREME. Apprentice So was told to ensure that he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground in the future. EVER BEAUTY, DIAMOND SUPREME and DIAMOND KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
